Focused on reality,
By Kenneth R. Kadan "Largeman" (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: E-Ring (DVD)
Unfortunately, more and more excellent shows regarding our nation's fight against world-wide terrorism are being pulled off television by short-sighted network executives. Remember "The Agency"? This type of programming is not allowed to develop an audience. More than ever before, we need shows like E-Ring to keep our citizens focused on the reality of what is actually happening throughout the world.
Here, we were treated to excellent writing and acting each week - the stories were wonderfully executed. Americans could witness the politics and pressures of making minute by minute decisions by the people who work at the Pentagon. As in real life, the decisions were not always the best or the worst - but the decisions were made and the consequences realized. It is my understanding that NBC ordered 22 episodes of E-Ring but only aired 14 shows. Too bad - I hope the complete first season will be released on DVD soon. It will an honor to watch the full 22 shows as originally produced.

One word...,
This review is from: E-Ring (DVD)
One word, and one word only...EXCELLENT. This show is not only entertaining, but fairly accurate. I know this because I'm a military buff, an intelligence buff, and a history/political science buff. Yes, there are SOME flaws in it. But that's only because of Government approval.
Dennis Hopper and Benjamin Bratt play army Spec Op officers in the pentagon. Their mission is to launch and assist Special Forces Missions around the world. They have to bypass legal and political matters in the process. Watch this at least once. Trust me, you won't regret it.

For those of us who watch the operations of the US military from across the Atlantic and whose only experiences of the the headquarters of the DoD are the shopping mall at Pentagon City, this show gives a valuable insight into the workings of the world's largest military command centre.
I regularly check facts on the Net and am under no illusions about the rights and wrongs of the current US Administration's military activities, but, I find E-Ring gives us at least some impression of how the men and women of the US armed forces work, from day to day. I would also recommend JAG (Judge Advocate General) - The Complete First Season and its successors as well.

Fantastic Military Series!!!!,
By
This review is from: E-Ring (DVD)
I am retired from the US Army and this show is one of the best Military series that has aired on television. There have been several throughout the years, but E-Ring was definitely in the top 3 along with "Tour of Duty" and "JAG".
A better cast of actors could not have been picked to play in this series. It absolutely amazes me that a show of this calibur, along with the cast didn't make it through the first year, however, they come up with all of the ignorant reality shows and that garbage stays on tv. I guess there is no accounting for taste. I have been waiting for E-Ring to come out on DVD since it stopped airing. A brilliant show!!!

One of the best military shows,
By jce3 (Eau Claire, WI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: E-Ring (DVD)
This was by far the best military show on TV at the time. I think it even outshines the Unit, which is also very good. Barely half of the original episodes aired. The other half must be vaulted away somewhere! I hope that the producers decide to release this on DVD very soon. I know I would enjoy watching all the episodes as they were meant to be.

My mother loved this show. She loved how they showed all the graphic displays they have at the E-Ring to fight terrorists. I wanted to order this, but it's not available.

A REALISTIC, THRILLING SHOW,
By sabu (u.s.a.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: E-Ring (DVD)
As MOST reviewers have already stated : This is an all too true look at the many dangers our military personnel and country face on a daily basis perpetrated by psychotic terrorists. I don't want to hear any B.S. about profiling, bias, etc. We know who murdered over 3,000 people and though they are only a small minority I don't see nor hear the vast majority condemning them for their atrocities !!

Why did i watch it?,
This review is from: E-Ring (DVD)
I was glad to see that the TV show is trying to portray to the Americans what is happening in Iraq... but i was dumfounded by the ignorance and the bias ... There is rather silly midevil ideas, some i found rather funny and other i found pathetic. This is what i got from watching one episode: "Sweet Americans" .. "Under developed Iraqis" which is more than silly ... true Iraqis had many disadvantages but it is nothing like what the show portrays ... most Iraqis are educated and all had electricity and were up-to-date with the latest fashion, plus the Muslims do not hold their holly book 24/7 and actually many of them aren't strict Muslims ... i.e. do not even follow basic principles of Islam ... It would be like saying all Christians hold the bible in their hand :s which isn't true at all. And i think they have only presented the "Good Americans" none of the angry Americans that have been sent against their will to Iraq .. most of them uneducated and only went there because they didn't succeed in their education and wanted to travel and see the world. I can see why this show was developed ... I think people are insulted to see such show especially the Americans ... do you think they have such a low IQ to the extent that they will believe that 20% of this show is even true?
