One of her best works with an 11 song bonus,
This review is from: Ring Them Bells (2CD) (Audio CD)
"Ring Them Bells" is one of Baez's most beautiful recordings. You have "Sweet Sir Galahad" from Woodstock times. Plus, there are lovely covers of "Jesse", "The Lily of the West," and "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" among the original ten. The music's thoughtful and compelling and Baez's voice at its very best. For a while there, this CD was hard to find. Amazon didn't always carry it. I was lucky to grab my copy as an import. But, for folks who waited, you now get the 11-song bonus disk featuring some never-before released live recordings. If you have never heard a live version of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" you are so in for a treat. In addition, you have "You're Aging Well" which if it wasn't written for Baez, is now certainly her anthem. Worth it if you are a Baez fanatic like me. She's still one of the greatest voices in any genre of music and these are among her most thoughtful songs. Rebecca Kyle, September 2009

I LOVE Joan Baez, her first LP was the first record I ever bought! I only saw her once in concert, with Hoyt Axton in Boston in the early 70s. I did not like her later work so much, so I was thrilled to find that so many "new" Joan Baez CDs of music from the "old days" are available now! I was also thrilled to hear the people she had singing with her on this CD - Mimi of course, Dar Williams (awesome in the group Cry, Cry Cry in 1998 I think), the McGarrigle sisters (I knew of them from Linda Ronstadt's Heart Like a Wheel), Tish Hinajosa, the Indigo Girls (all performers I had run into and really liked in other musical wanderings). But sorry to say I still can't get into Joan's rendition of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, my favorite rendition of that will always be the Band's. But this was a wonderful CD to add to my collection!

This album has many great older recordings, but all seem fresh. Having just seen Joan Baez in concert, I especially like having these songs.
