Used the Activator and it really sped up the process. I was having a slow go before I used this, so highly recommend.

For some reason, my garden soil does not contain the thermophilic bacteria necessary to start a compost pile. This product is the solution. Mix brown stuff like leaves and green stuff like grass in a 2:1 ratio and use this for bacteria, water well and you will have a hot pile in two days!

Watch out for the product leaking a bit in the box. Ours came with one side of the product box "unglued a bit" which let the product leak out into the Outer shipping box. Didn't loose too much, but was slightly disappointed that the product leaked out in shipping.

We are new to the details of composting so I was hoping this was something I could sprinkle on top of the current "pile" in order to help it speed up the decomposition. My wife (chief composter) says the instructions say the product needs to be on the bottom. I'm not sure if it still wouldn't work if added mid pile, but then again I'm not the "Chief Composter" so we may never know.

It appears that the product requires you to start your compost pile over (if you already started one, because it is supposed to be on "the bottom layer")

I bought this product along with composter (compost wizard jr. 7 cubic foot compost tumbler). First, I examined the box trying to find ingredients, none of them was listed, so who knows what it is. It made me feel uncomfortable, because I do not know if it is there natural ingredient or some kind of chemical. Also, I would like to do some research on this product if it really works or not, but since there is no disclosure of ingredients, you stuck to "take their word for it". Plus, what if you have an allergy for it, but since their no information what inside; it can be a simple dust as far as I know.
Second, I followed the directions and added this mystery chemical into my compost. I do not think it made a difference at all. My composter does its job with or without it just fine, it is black and generates a lot of heat, I water it or add greens to keep it moist, and turn it weekly. Did not feel any speed up whatsoever. Nature and composter do what they supposed to do without this gimmick. Don't waste your money!!.
To speed up the composting and introduce viable bacteria, I added (as book on composting recommended) about a gallon of already made compost which already contains all the necessary bacteria and organisms, so they can start working on new pile of compost.

I have tried other brands before but I actually saw progress with this one in a week. I over filled my composter with dried yard clippings from piles I had made from weeks before and had it so packed that when I spun it nothing really moved. When I checked it yesterday so much was breaking down that I had thought my husband had removed 1/3 of my pile. This is the quickest breakdown to date! Great product.

It seems to work. 2 comparable compost piles (grass clippings, chopped leaves, food waste), one treated with Ringer compost starter, the other not. After three days, temperature of the treated pile was 97 degrees, untreated pile 83 degrees (air temperature 81 degrees). The compost starter seems to kick things off in a hurry, so hopefully the compost will be just about done by the time freezing weather comes.

Packaging: Some of the pelletized starter leaked out of the product box into the shipping box. There did not appear to be any damage or holes in the box, so I think it just fell through some weak seams on the box.

Instructions not real clear... i don't know how much to add :( to my large composter. I will see in 90 days if i have mulch....maybe

This really did make a difference in the time it took my compost to break down. I think it is a good value and a nice way to get things moving along in the compost pile~

It's hard to tell if this product is working. I received it as ordered applied it as directed to just one side of the compost barrel, it doesn't seem any different than the other side after 3 weeks.

i have never needed to add anything to my compost pile to get it to work.it is a slow go during cold months ,but in the heat of summer you can't stop it.wet it ,turn it ,repeat.easy as that.tom
