5.0 out of 5 stars How did I overlook him before now?
I was driving down the freeway listening to the local Pacifica station when they played "Please Take This Cup From Me" without any attribution to the artist. I was so taken with the direct, honest delivery of the song and the unadorned but beautiful harmonies that I memorized the title and searched it on Amazon when I got home. I had never heard of Watermelon Slim...

I had never heard of Watermelon Slim... and I also learned that the song/album wasn't due to be released for another three days.

That gave me time to listen to his back catalog and become amazed and delighted at the work he has done in the past few years. When June 1 rolled around I had already downloaded three of his albums; "Ringers" made four. I haven't regretted a minute of it. The country cuts of Ringers may be a slight detour, but they get the full Watermelon Slim treatment and stand up nicely to his more bluesy efforts. It's all part of being shown some pieces of his remarkable life (do not overlook his biography). Buy and enjoy.
