Biography

Richard Starkey is best known to the world as the Beatles' drummer. As an integral part of the revolutionary 'Fab Four', Ringo Starr helped change the world of pop music. Starr didn't join The Beatles until 1962, after original drummer Pete Best was sacked. As a drummer his proficiency is often under-rated, or derided as simplistic, but he remains an influence on many of today's best rock… Read more in Amazon's Ringo Starr Store

5.0 out of 5 stars I Was There!, September 7, 2002
By
Jeff Beal (Schaumburg, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ringo & His New All-Starr Band (Audio CD)
This Show Documents Ringo's August 23, 2001 show at the Rosemont Theatre in Chicago. I had the pleasure of joining Richard Starkey, M.B.E. on this most stormy night. Almost all of the songs performed that night are here, except for Ringo's "Boys", "It Don't Come Easy", and "I'm the Greatest", Ian Hunter's "Cleveland Rocks", and "I'm Going to be Someone", Greg Lake's "In the Court of the Crimson King" and "Karnevil No. 9", two songs by Howard Jones, the names of which I cannot remember, and another song by Sheila E, the name of which I cannot remember. What a fantastic show! What a fantastic CD! Although, were I at the helms, this would be a double CD, so that every Ringo song would have gone on. He is the star of the show, after all. Still, King Biscuit was wise to release this gem. Keep up the good work, Ringo!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars for Ringo and the All - Starr Band, October 3, 2002
This review is from: Ringo & His New All-Starr Band (Audio CD)
I've seen countless live concerts over the years, many of them have been high profile multi-media extravagnzas. Not this one.

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band have quietly been hitting the road for a number of years, playing small to medium sized venues, with hardly any fanfare.

But what makes these secret little shows so special is the way the entire band comes together and shares each other's music. Ringo doesn't just hit the road and stand in the spotlight. Instead he brings with him a band of friends with a variety of musical backgrounds and they all play and sing together.

If you ever get a chance to catch Ringo and His All-Starr Band in concert... GO! Until then, grab the CDs of the prior shows and enjoy!
