Book Description

December 6, 2007
Based on a true story, With Rings on Their Fingers begins in Banbury, England, during the waning weeks of 1985, when Jonathan Ashford meets Darcie Bartlett at ballroom dancing lessons. Jonathan falls in love with her and offers to write her unusual life’s story, a story that begins soon after WWII and tells how and why her parents, Clifford and Iris Bell, became Ministrares---Messiah’s Ministry of Truth faith---emigrate to Salisbury, Rhodesia, and, after many years and for different reasons, return separately to their homeland. One nagging issue prevails throughout: How can someone be so completely insensitive to the hurt caused to others while pursuing their own dreams? Innocence and betrayal; hypocrisy and self-denial are but four words that help to provide a fascinating answer to the question and an attention-grabbing ending to the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars With Rings on Their Fingers, May 26, 2008

This review is from: With Rings on Their Fingers (Paperback)
Based on a true story, this book follows the life of one man and how his actions affect those around him. The story line includes love, lust, incest, racism, history and travel. How could you go wrong? The characters are believable and interesting and the plot is intriguing. I enjoyed the book immensely and was sorry to see it end.

4.0 out of 5 stars With Rings on Their Fingers, January 15, 2008
This review is from: With Rings on Their Fingers (Paperback)
This is a well written book with plenty of intrigue to keep you turning the pages late on into the night. I read the book from cover to cover while flying to England. I have visited Banbury a number of times and recognized some of the local references in the book. Obviously a well traveled author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well worth reading, July 7, 2008
This review is from: With Rings on Their Fingers (Paperback)
With Rings On Their Fingers, by K.D.Groeth is a romance novel with an unusual twist. The antagonist is a man who falls in love time and again with willing teenage girls. The story starts slowly, as the author sets the scene for this partially fictional biography of one of the young girls--the only one who doesn't take advantage of the antagonist's obsession with attractive pubescent girls.

The author has chosen a difficult vehicle for telling his story in that he assumes the role of omniscient first-person narrator who is himself, years later, romantically involved with the main character. At times real life can become a soap opera, and Groethe has shown us the personal pain suffered by his characters with stinging and beleivable dialogue. The story is a study in the ways in which men and women verbally attack each other when a love affair is breaking up. A two hundred page novel well worth reading.
