Rio Beach Portable Sun Shelter

Picked up this beach shelter to take on an upcoming beach vacation, since I'm about as pale as they come. Very easy to assemble, and it's a bit larger than I expected it to be which is a good thing. I'm 6' and can very comfortably lay lengthwise inside without touching either side wall.

It's also very portable and will be a breeze to pack in our luggage. This will be a welcome addition to our vacation!

Only negative: Carry bag is not super high-quality construction so I'm planning to re-enforce the carry strap before we tote it around for a week. Single stitching where the carry strap meets the bag is likely to fail after several uses. But the tent itself is well constructed with double stitching.

It was a windy day when we set the tent up on the beach. Once we figured out how it was suppose to be put together it was really easy. The tent was bigger than i had expected and gave us great shelter from the wind (it was February, so it was a bit chilly). I really liked the pockets on the inside for keeping things like your keys, phone or ipod safe from the sand. I would definitely recommend this product.

The first time set up was quick. Provides a large shaded area and is well made. Would recommend to others.

I agree with most reviewers that this product is very easy to put together and to take apart. I also agree that it provides more than adequate shade and space inside. This product, however, does not work at all on the beach with the ocean breeze. In fact it acts like a parachute, making it impossible to keep it safely or comfortably on the ground. I tried it inside and in the backyard where there is no wind and it works great, but it is not useful at all when faced with direct sea breeze. I thought the "windows" might allow the air to go through, but they do not. I would not buy this product if you plan to use it mostly on a breezy beach where the sand does not allow for very firm nail down.

Used this once so far, and loved it. Don't try to set it up your first time when it is windy. Kept us cool when we wanted shade and gave us privacy that we really liked. I could read, stay cool and get my legs tan all at once.

Pure junk. We didn't get 2 days out of it. One of the 2 top tabs came apart. The stitching just unraveled. They should use thicker, more durable thread.
We will attempt to fix it ourselves since we have the money invested in it and have only gotten 1 and 1/2 days out of it. But when you're at the beach with no sewing kit and are relying on this thing to protect you from the sun, it's disappointing to not be able to use it.

Awesome product...gave us more privacy on the beach than a regular canopy would have. Very easy and quick to set up (even in the wind) and provided nice shade. We even took a nap on the beach under it. We had two chairs inside, our cooler, towels, etc and had plenty of room. The carry bag is small - great for bringing on the plane but makes putting the shelter back in it a bit difficult - make sure to roll the shelter up tightly around the poles and it will all fit back in the bag. We are going to use this for our daughter's soccer practices and games where there is no shade at all - very happy with our purchase.

I guess I didn't look at the item description closely enough so I had no idea how HUGE this shelter was. I think it's pretty funny, actually. My husband went to do a test setup in our living room and the poles went from one side of the living room to the other and he had to put them over the railing of our staircase to lay them all out.

The shelter seems very solid and sturdy and there is certainly a LOT of room in it. I'm excited to try it out on the beach.

This worked perfectly when we put it up the first day at the beach. It kept the sun off of our six month old as she took a nap and kept the sand out of her way. When we put it back in the bag, it ripped the bag. Oh well! But on the next day, it ripped as we were putting it up. Then the slightest wind lifted it up with the baby in it! It definitely needs better stakes. Needless to say, I returned it upon arrival from the beach! We ended up just using the beach umbrellas and moving them with the sun. Great concept, just cheaply made!
