5.0 out of 5 stars may these beautiful songs shine on you., December 24, 2005

No one can stop kenji, you just can't! rio de emocion is another stunning example of what a genius musical & gifted person he is.it's a blend of spanish/drum & bass & rock.the spanish side of the album is huge,as he was hugley inspired by spanish music hence the title (river of emotion).the really shocking thing to me is i've always said he can do any style of music,i did'nt even think of spanish, but god damn it HE CAN DO IT!,he even throughs in some spanish lyrics along with English & japanese (come on...what a hero).of course i'd love to point out every song but the one's that really get me are 'palmas rock' (a beautiful reggae rock blend that will stun ya) 'yunagai union' (god!how do you even put it into words a kinda dreamlike song with lots of echoed guitars & acoustics), 'crush the window' (a fast/sharp cut rock explosion). 'asanagai revival' (a beautiful heartfelt peaceful song with kid choir harmonies).this album also has a STUNNING,BEAUTIFUL,TEARFUL,HEARTFELT bonus song, this bonus song is possibly the most beautiful song i've ever heard,it's an acoustic mix with beautiful scratching, clapping & kids choir....AWESOME!
this album is very important to kenji because ever since the attention of viva la revolution he said that he just does'nt feel comfortable with peoples pressure & the hard time of getting his label mob squad sorted,BUT he said that the feeling he's got now is much of buzz songs (his favourite time...& mine).
i've bought this album 3 times (just in case something happens) & cried my eyes out so you know it's stunning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive - best album by Dragon Ash, February 10, 2006

Kensaku (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rio De Emocion (Audio CD)
First off, I should say that I'm very particular about what songs I like from Dragon Ash. I am not a fan of their supposed hard rock/punk style and a lot of their hip-hop songs seem to try too hard. Songs like Viva La Revolution, Under Age's Song, and Lily of Da Valley are songs that have a lot of flow.

So this album actually really impressed me because the ENTIRE cd is full of songs that flow, have a lot of variation, yet stay consistent with the Spanish theme. It seems to incorporate every style that Dragon Ash has attempted in the past and the result is a rendition of beautiful Spanish, rythmic reggae, hip-hop, rock, "punk," jazz/house beats. The production of this album is top-notch and I'm not afraid to have my non-proficient-in-Japanese friends listen to it.

I'd like to see Dragon Ash build on this album and see what else they can come up with without trying so hard. This album is a perfect example of music appreciation. Kenji stepped up to the plate and brought us some "real" music, not some wannabe material from some of his previous recordings.

I highly recommend this!!!
