Product Description

Dvonn is a challenging stacking game with very simple rules. It is played with three red Dvonn pieces, 23 white pieces, and 23 black pieces. The players must try to control as many pieces as possible by building stacks, preferably by jumping on top of their opponent's pieces. While doing so, pieces and stacks must remain linked to the red Dvonn pieces. If not, they are out of the game. When no more moves can be made, each player put their stacks on top of each other. The player with the highest stack wins the game! This two player family strategy game takes about 30 minutes to play.

This looks like a simple game until you try it - keeps you thinking until the very end, as the best games do. And, unlike some thinking games, this one moves along quickly and doesn't take too long, so you can get a few rounds done in an hour.

Seems solidly made, should last for your lifetime.

Not practical in a crowd, not practical unless you can concentrate.

Highly recommended.

So far, this is my favorite game in the Gipf project. The rules are simple to learn, yet you learn more and more strategies the more you play. Me and a friend play this for hours on the weekend and we talk about it all the time. This game definitely comes highly recommended. You should also try out some of the other games in the project. So far, I have played Zertz and Yinsh too, and those are great as well. I feel they lack the depth of Dvonn, but they are still worth it. You can check out more about the Gipf project at [...]

This is a great game. If you like abstract 2 player strategy games then I'd recommend that you get this quick in case it goes out of print. You take turns putting out your pieces and filling the board. Then you start stacking them together. The board shrinks pretty quickly and you can find yourself screwed out of stacks with no way to recapture them. Piece on top of a stack denotes the current owner of a stack. Person with the highest stack after stacking them up at the end of the game is the winner. It's box art conjures up someone standing on pieces of land as they get eaten up by lava...and in that way there is a sort of theme to it. (Ya it's a stretch) I highly suggest this game and Yinsh. They are getting harder and harder to get a hold of, so if you see them for 30 bucks online, then snap them up. At the time of writing this, Yinsh was currently 50 bucks...worth it for a classic, but is still pricey.
