Ghost Chase lists the age range as 8+, but I bought it for my five year old daughter, and she's had a blast with it.

One of the benefits of playing the game with younger kids is that they'll get a lot of educational value out of it. My daughter was working on recognizing numbers, but not having a lot of luck at it through traditional means. After playing Ghost Chase, though, she now recognizes up into the 50s (that's as high as the room numbers in the game go).

The need to manage multiple characters to achieve a goal is also a great mind-stretcher for her when she's playing the ghost hunters. When she's playing the ghost, the need to remember where she's been, and not get herself caught in a dead-end, is great. In fact, she does better at that than I do!

We've found that with the recommended settings in the game, it's difficult for the ghost hunters to catch the ghost (even with me playing the ghost hunters and my daughter playing the ghost). So if your kids are playing the hunters, I'd recommend using all the animal frames and all the characters instead of the amount the rules say. Also give them the ghost trap to help limit the ghost's mobility.

But it's a fun game that we both enjoy playing together, and she loves it! It also satisfied her need for a "scary" game around Halloween since it involves chasing a ghost around a haunted castle.
