Product Description

Slip on the role of clever court attendant and try your luck in the court of Louis XIV. Influence his next decrees. Relax in his radiance on his countless cushions. Bribe ministers and buy generals. Spin intrigue and spread your net in the empire of the Sun King. Every plan is right - if it works! A careful plan and provident use of information gained in the court can help you fulfill your mission -and win the game!

From the Manufacturer

Gnumies are several races of alien space-faring creatures who love to party. They have parties as often as possible and invite all their friends, but try to avoid having certain party-crashers as guests. Getting families to come gives players extra points, but allowing gate-crashers in, loses points. Of course, certain guests have special powers which can help or hinder players in their search for the best party. In the end, the player with the best party guests earns the most points and wins the game.

Resource management and area control game where you compete with other players to gain the favor of French nobility by allocating your influence markers. Winning a noble's favor grants a reward that provides victory points, advantages in future rounds or tokens needed to complete missions. Completing missions provides both victory points and advantages in future rounds. The player with the most victory points after four round wins.

Recommended for experienced gamers. Although the game's mechanics are fairly simple in practice, the game sounds very complex when the rules are explained and will likely intimidate players not familiar with European style games.

Plenty of strategy and plenty of fun.

Pros:
+Louis is fairly easy to play and takes a reasonable amount of time for 4 players.
+There are interesting decisions to make but aren't so complex as to be paralyzing.
+the art and pieces are decent

Cons:
-The rules take a while to get through (despite being pretty simple)
-It doesn't excite people for some reason

Interesting blend of area control (like Web of Power or San Marco) and resource gathering (like Puerto Rico or Settlers of Catan). Not really a great game for kids of boardgaming novices, because it is moderately complex. However, this is a reasonably good game for an experienced gamer.
