4.0 out of 5 stars Complex to explain but simple to play
Khronos is a fun game that you'll likely never be able to play as much as you'd like because the rules tend to be a bit intimidating and complex to explain. Due to a number of limitations on building and the layers introduced by having 3 time periods which influence each other, the game can take 10-25 minutes to teach to new players, who will often begin their first game...

1.0 out of 5 stars Directions for play are impossible to interpret! 8-<
This game received wonderful accolades - which is why we purchased it, however, trying ot figure out the directions was maddening. It's as if the "directions" were never panel-tested.
We have yet to play it!!
Very disappointing.

Khronos is a fun game that you'll likely never be able to play as much as you'd like because the rules tend to be a bit intimidating and complex to explain. Due to a number of limitations on building and the layers introduced by having 3 time periods which influence each other, the game can take 10-25 minutes to teach to new players, who will often begin their first game rather overwhelmed. However, like most good strategy board games, by the end of the first few turns the strategies begin to emerge and everyone tends to understand the rules intuitively. Even novice board gamers can quickly catch on once the game starts rolling and the game scales well for anywhere between 3 and 5 players.

In short, if you have a group who doesn't mind sitting down and investing the time to understand a multilayered game, then Khronos will be a very rewarding purchase. The game also calls for different strategies based on turn order, so you can mix things up just by shuffling seats and playing again. Personally, I am always on the lookout for new people willing to learn this great game.
