Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Cuba prior to the revolution under turbulent circumstances, the villages of the island strive for independent wealth and influence. Who can buy and sell his products and goods on the domestic market profitably or take in the most on the trading ships? Who can send the right delegate to parliament in order to influence the government legislative process, or erect distilleries, hotels and banks at the right moment to the benefit of his village? Whoever has accumulated the most victory points at the end of the game, wins. Players earn victory points by shipping merchandise from the harbor, but also by erecting and using buildings, and by abiding by the law.

Cuba is a worker placement and resource management game. It shares a lot of similarities to Puerto Rico and Colonia.

Where Cuba excels is that it forces more player interaction. Building are scarce, players compete for positions on ships more directly, and it has an interesting mechanic for determining events.

Additionally, Cuba has a more complicated worker placement method that promotes strategic thinking. And, the resources can be refined, creating multi-turn tactics.

It is a great buy!

PS: the expansion is alright but not necessary.

We were introduced to this game at a friend's game night and couldn't wait to get our own copy. This game is complex. Do to the complexity of the game, it's best suited to teenage and adult players. There are a variety of strategies and tactics that you can use to win the game and you can make your own path to victory. The game is too involved and complex for me to describe it in this review. Suffice it to say that this game is a long game, a complex game, a cut-throat game (like Monopoly), and very fun!
* 2 to 4 players
* Lots of little wooden pieces and cards
* playing board is cardboard so it's not durable or waterproof
* In the box, the game is large--close to the size of 2 shoeboxes.

My husband/boyfriend/mate person LOVES these kinds of games so I was looking for a Christmas/Hanukkah gift for him and I found this game via some online reviews. I gave it to him for Christmas/Hanukkah (he's half Lutheran and half Jewish) and it is now his FAVORITE game. Do you know how good if feels to give a guy who is passionate about his board games/games of conquest and to have it end up being his FAVORITE game? His other favorite up to Cuba was El Grande and I also recommend that game if you like this kind of game.

The best way to play it is to buy some rum and make a few cocktails, turn on iTunes radio and find a station that plays Cuban or Latin type music to create a fun theme/atmosphere in the room.

Great game.
