I had been eyeing this game for a while. I finally decided to buy it with Amazon Rewards Points.

The game is a great game, a fun strategic challenge. The components are of very high quality.

I enjoy the theme as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cleverly Designed Game Emphasizing Strategy, October 7, 2010
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Hamburgum (Toy)
This is a cleverly designed game that really emphasizes strategy. The gist of this strategic game is that players are wealthy merchants in the city of Hamburg (or alternatively, London) trying to gain prestige by donating to the construction of the city's major churches. There are many elements to the game. In order to have the supplies and money to donate to the churches, players have to build industry, accumulate goods, build ships, and sell what they make. But they can't focus too much on the trade aspect of the game, or else they will lose opportunities to donate before other players do.

Each player has a token that the player moves between one and three spaces around a rondel, each space representing an activity that the player can perform; the affect of this is that a player can do one of only three particular activities during any turn, depending on where the player is on the rondel, and it makes players strategize about where they are positioned on the rondel relative to other players, considering what those other players might plan to do next. This also eliminates the element of chance, as there are no dice or luck of a drawn card involved.

Because there are so many elements to the game, it can take a little while to learn all of the rules. However, the game play itself is rather easy because the players' available actions are controlled by their movement around the rondel.
