Product Description

RGG438 Carcassonne Dice Game by Rio Grande Games

In the Carcassonne dice game, the players cleverly use dice roles try to build closed cities as large as they can - the bigger, the better.

They said it could not be done - oh, wait, no one ever said that. In fact, gamers have been predicting the release of this title for at least five years, and now is the time.

As part of the tenth anniversary celebrations for the Spiel des Jahres-winning Carcassonne, publisher Hans im Glnck and designers Klaus-Jurgen Wrede and Olivier Lamontagne are releasing Carcassonne: Das Wurfelspiel, a quick-playing dice game that will allow players to build cities faster than ever before. The game includes nine special dice, a pencil and a block of scoresheets packaged inside a meeple-shaped metal container.

The dice are well made but mono-chrome. Rules are simple enough if you are familar with Carcassonne. Otherwise the 'building' of castle function takes a little explanation for a new player. Like most dice-games, it may have limited replay value, but I collect dice games, it is unique amoung them with the castle building theme.

We greatly enjoy Carcassonne and all of its expansion packs so had to give the dice game a try. Its a quick game and travels well. Great for 2 people and works well for up to 4.

This is a simple and quick version of Carcassonne (and doesn't require as much room to play to a continuous flat place), but honestly it is almost TOO simple. It is a nice, quick game for 2-3 in a pinch, but the regular version is better. But portability does have its advantages!
