Do not buy this product! This is a totally useless imitation of a beach umbrella (made in China with cheap materials). First, upon opening it, I saw that one of the spokes was broken. When I took it to the beach and tried to use it there in the presence of some very weak breeze from the ocean, the umbrella could not stand open at all and some more of the spokes broke. The pointy attachment that leads the pole in the sand got detached and lost under the sand. Also, the strap of the vinyl carrying bag got torn off on my way back from that unfortunate day at the beach, so now you can't even carry it on your shoulder. I completely regret spending money on this garbage. The retailer offered to send me a replacement within 1 to 5 business days but did not ship it until I inquired about the status of the replacement 11 days later. They claimed that the replacement was shipped on time, but it got lost in transit, so they were gonna ship another one. However, I never received a shipping notification or a tracking number from the carrier, so I think the retailer was just lying to cover up their own failure to fulfill their responsibilities. Finally, they offered me a full refund, and I gladly accepted my money back.

I purchased four of these for our field work on a beach in Florida. For the price, they are awesome...durable, easy to use and relatively rust resistant.

I love my Rio umbrella so much that I'm back on Amazon.com to buy another one for when we have beach parties. I take it to the park also and use the screw in attachment for grass. I even bring it camping for those long hot afternoon. Give it a try!

The umbrella part was great. Unfortunately, the piece used to "drill" it into the sand did not sustain very much of a breeze at all. We never used the umbrella at the beach because it would not stay up.
