This review is from: Riot of Colour (Audio Cassette)
I once ordered this tape and never received it. Ordered another copy, received it, but the quality of the tape was mediocre (it was from 1986). I liked two songs on the album. Very rare and hard to find. I would not recommend this unless it were available on CD. Square Rooms was very pricey, but a much better album IMO. Again, Riot of Color very rare, but "Square Rooms" and "Cold Dresses" Al Corley's main hits. I know almost nothing on the artist.
If the tape were in better condition, it would be worth dubbing to a PC or an iPod. Rated 2/5 for the price (but fair considering rarity), degraded quality, and two songs on the album for my taste. Overall, I like Al Corley (his extended version of "Square Rooms" is the best song in my opinion - you can find this and many rare and obscure artists/songs on some Internet radio sites, such as Flashback Alternatives - yes, where I heard Al Corley originally). Keep in mind that I purchased the album used (very good condition according to seller, I think). You can read up on Al Corley on Wikipedia (perhaps the best source). Hope this is helpful for anyone interested in rare music from the 1980s (thanks to the convenience of the Internet). |
