5.0 out of 5 stars DEAD OR ALIVE IS ALIVE IN THE 80S. May 15, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Oh, how I miss the 80s and especially the likes of Culture Club, Spandau Ballet, and these dance pop wonders Dead or Alive. With there big hit "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)", "Brand New Lover", and "Something In My House", you can't help but put on your dancing shoes and dance like a mad person in your living room, or move around like a mexican jumping bean in your car while people look at you thinking you are ready for that padded room. Dead or Alive's songs may sound similar to each other, but heh?, I like the beat and it is easy to dance to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rip It Up with Dead Or Alive! June 25, 2002
Format:Audio CD
Pop Music Lesson 16273A: What artists do you associate when you hear the names Stock-Aitken-Waterman? I'm hoping some of you are Generation X-ers. Kylie Minogue? Yes, good. Bananarama? Right again. Rick Astley, Mel & Kim? Good, good! Dead Or Alive?
Good job there, whoever you were! Yes, the sound is unmistakeably S-A-W, but how about the look of the artists? Kylie, Bananarama, and Rick Astley were all spank-your-booty-and-call-you-Sally squeaky clean. Dead Or Alive looked a bit like Culture Club rejects but hey, the sound was there, right? And granted, Pete Burns and company did come up with some dance-till-your-booty-does-the-hit-the-floor-thing.
"Brand New Lover" is the highest these Brits got on the American charts, and their other greatest known hit is "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" q.v. (The Wedding Singer's opening credits for this song, you Echo Boomers!) I don't know, though. The way this CD is packed, it'll spin you as fast as a CD player does a CD. Hmm, "You Spin Me Round (Like A CD)" It might work.
"Hooked On Love" and "I'll Save You All My Kisses"--aww, isn't that sweet?--are two other exceptional cuts here. Guess what? Both of these, just like "Brand New Lover," are on Mad Bad & Dangerous To Know, so you just might want to pick this up after hearing Rip It Up.
Summary: eight songs from Sophisticated Boom-Boom, Youthquake, and Mad Bad & Dangerous To Know are remixed and strung together to make one long party in Rip It Up, which is the closest thing to a greatest hits by these artists. Dead Or Alive? Alive and Alive is more like it. All right, class dismissed!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have CD for Dead or Alive fans September 27, 1999
Format:Audio CD
If you don't have any CD's from Dead or Alive, this is the one to get! It has all of their best songs, and have been remixed and extended somewhat from the regular album versions. Also, they are back-to-back non-stop. A fine collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yeah baby! Very Shagadelic. May 27, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is a great CD, full of great songs from an era that was innovative and by far the best so far for quality and quantity.
I come from Liverpool, England where the band are from and I used to live next door to the drummer Steve Coy and I used to buy my records from Probe were the singer Pete Burns worked, even during their success in the 80's, so I have a lot of affection for this band.
The only disappointment I have is that they missed out the cover song 'That's the way I like it' which is one of the best cover versions I have heard.
Buy it! You won't regret it!

Ohhhhh Boyyyyyyyyy What a tasty cd! I called all my buddies (Horn, Sweats, Adam, Barral, G-man, Trout, D-Boy, Gooch, Marble, and a bunch of squirrely college babes ) and had an "I want Surprizes" party. These songs get me in the mood to sing with 2 rockin guitar players/dancers by my side. If you want a cookin beat with a twist of Relaxation, this CD is a must for you! The female lead singer is mega cute, but I can't understand the flat chest.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) August 29, 2003
Format:Audio CD
Dead or Alive is one of my favorite bands back from the era when hair crimping, day glo colors, and Atari 2600 was all the rage. DOA had two of the catchiest club pop songs during the '80s ("Brand New Lover" and the eternal classic "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)"). I recently popped in "Rip It Up" into my stereo. I still love the songs but I just can't believe how awful the production was on this 8 song compilation. Still the songs themselves make up for the highly questionable production job. Almost twenty years later, I still find myself humming along to two of my personal favorite new wave songs to date "Brand New Lover" and of course "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)". The songs are irresistably infectious and hard not to have those songs stuck in your head. I especially adore "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)". No matter how many times I listen to that song, I can never tire of it. Asides from the group's two biggest hits, the rest of the songs are equally catchy and immensely fun to dance along to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Dance Remix CD from the 80's September 22, 2005
Format:Audio CD
Pete Burns and company gave us some of the most innovative and heavy dance music...with his glam/genderbender image and free use of sexuality, Pete burns and Dear or Alive gave us dance music which was heavy with a dash of goth to it....RIP IT UP gives us the best of the band with the cd compiling some of the greatest tracks from the YouthQuake and Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know CDs. IT contains the very cool (yet overplayed) You spin me Round, the Sexy Hooked On Love, the Gothic Something In My House and other gems such as Lover Come Back to Me and In too Deep....All put together in a never stopping 47 minute mix of hot sexy, heavy 80's Dance. If you want some of the best the 80's offered in British Dance, this album is the one to get!!
