Worst book I have EVER read
on October 18, 2013
It's really rare that I can't find a single redeeming quality in a book. Usually there's something. This book was so awful that I don't know where to start. But I'll try.
The writing: I've never read worse writing. The author doesn't even know how to put together a grammatically correct sentence. She doesn't seem to know the difference between their, they're and there; or to, too and two. Don't even get me started on the difference between between using I versus me. The writing was awful! My 3rd grader could write better and probably has.
The characters: Awful. There was nothing likable about any of the characters. In fact, I ended the book hating both of them. Not just disliking them, HATING them.
The story: Beyond awful. I've read bad romance and erotic stories, but this was awful. This book came with a warning that some scenes would be difficult or offensive; but I don't think that warning is sufficient, so let me give you a better warning: This book comes with scenes of blatant rape where the victim is supposed to enjoy it??? Seriously??? I'm not offended by much, but I'm deeply offended by a rape scene where the victim has an internal battle with herself because she's enjoying it at the same time that she's saying the pain was excruciating and almost more than she can handle. An 18 year old homeless kid (which is what the main character is)...a virgin, no less...raped vaginally and anally by a 30-something year old man is not interesting reading in my mind.
The book ends with a cliffhanger. Seriously? Why in the world would anyone want to read more? I not only wish I could get my 99 cents back that I paid for this book, but I feel like charging the author for the couple of hours of time I will never be able to get back.
I'm going to do something I've never done. I'm going to recommend to all readers that they skip this book. If you like romance or erotica, there are a lot of much better choices out there. This is not one of them. I can't imagine anyone finding anything redeeming about this book, the story, the writing or the characters.
