Ripley's Believe It or Not, November 25, 2005
This review is from: Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Special Edition 2006 (Hardcover)
The acquisition has hundreds of little known facts and feats
by persons everywhere. The Encyclopedia of Needle Artwork is shown.
A typical entry describes a Statute of Liberty situated in the
eye of a needle. Leo Sewell literally converts trash to valued
treasure. A 600 pound lady is shown from an earlier period.
The use of candles in cutting hair is depicted. Captain Frodo
is shown in practically every contortion imaginable. The acquisition would make a good conversation piece. In addition,
this volume would be helpful in crafting any student project
on minor subject areas of science and little known facts.
The book would make a wonderful gift for the student in your
home.

Another in the great collection of Ripley's Special editions., March 8, 2010
This review is from: Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Special Edition 2006 (Hardcover)
In the last several years we have been lucky to get some great Special Editions from the editors at Ripley's.There are considerable differences in these "Specials";particularly in size. For instance, this one and the one in 2004 are much smaller, with about 150 pages, but several others are about 250 pages.
They are all much the same in great quality of paper, color rendition, very durable covers and construction, and excellent text. Also, the material presented in each of these editions stays consistently excellent ,and if anything gets better, more bizarre, stranger, more fantastic, more eccentric, odder, weider, more outlandish, zannier, more grotesque, more comical, more oddball, more mystifying;and above all even more unbelievable. In spite of all that ;Ripley's continues to hold to that one principle---It Most Be True!!I have been a fan of Ripley's Believe it or Not ever since I was a kid when his first book came out and have dozens and dozens in my collection.I can still remember the excitement of when the little Pocket Books regularly appeared in the stores and I still have most of them. For many years, the daily Ripley cartoon appeared in my newspapers, but unfortunately, not today, nor for many years. However;now that we have the Internet they are there ,including an archive.
In all these years,I have continued to be entertained and amazed at what Ripley's have been able to turn up,and continue to look forward to each new publication.
If by chance you haven't come across any of these entertaining books;pick up one;and I am sure you and your family will all find them fascinating. However;I can't be held responsible if you get hooked on them!!

Entertaining & informative, March 22, 2008
This book is pefect for the 'Cliff Clavins' of the world. Its colorful cover and detailed photographs draw you in to read about some of the world's most bizzare facts, feats, people and animals. If your thing is outlandish trivia and oddities (albeit some of which are disturbing and not for the fainhearted), this is the book for you!
