Book Description

July 1, 1998
Jenny Smedley, an ordinary housewife, has a new maxim: "You never know when your life will change in a minute." Hers certainly did. In one second of unconscious recognition she rediscovered a soul mate from a previous incarnation - a soul mate that her subconscious memories told her now dwelled inside the person known as Garth Brooks.

"Ripples" tells of Jenny's hypnotic regression therapy and also gives a vivid account of her memories in the 17th century as Madeleine Fitzgerald and the three years she was married to Ryan Fitzgerald.

This is an inspirational story. It is about magic and faith and a love so strong that it has spanned the centuries. If the readers can suspend disbelief they too can enter this world of magic. The characters of Ryan and Madeleine can live in anyone's heart. The language is graceful, the plot compelling. Situations are described in startling clarity, thus drawing the reader effortlessly into the fabric of the story, to experience it as a personal reality.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The book is a bit spooky, but it's an easy read and if zany American country singer Kinky Friedman can write unusual books which become best sellers then who knows, perhaps Jenney Smedley can do likewise. Tom Gilmore -- Country Roads

"Whether or not you believe in 'past lives' this book cannot fail to fascinate you...if you enjoy a gripping, romantic, dramatic good read, then fasten your seat-belts and peruse Jenny Smedley's first book..." Ernie Sears -- Country Music Roundup

"an absolutely unmissable read..." Brigette Strachan -- Country Music and Dance Scotland (Ireland)

About the Author

Jenny Smedley wrote "Ripples," her first book, at the age of 45. She was inspired to do so by a paranormal experience, which revealed a past lift to her. This experience has touched and changed every part of her life, like the ripples on a pond. Since the experience she has become a successful songwriter. Her acclaimed song "I'm Still Falling," co-written with Barry Upton (formerly of Brotherhood of Man), has featured on a top ten album, and also as a video on CMT. She has also overcome a life-long phobia of flying and won a 24 year battle with her weight by losing almost 40 pounds.

Jenny lives in the beautiful English county of Somerset with her husband Tony.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sour grapes or what?, January 10, 2002
This review is from: Ripples (A story of Garth Brooks) (Paperback)
Two very nasty comments by previous reviewers made me do my own review of this book. First of all misquoting Garth - he said 'I'm not sure I understand the book, probably somebody would need to explain it to me.'
A whole different context - please quote correctly if you're going to quote at all.
Second thing - I have it on totally definite authority that ALL proceeds from this book were donated to 'Music For Africa' Hardly the actions of a money grabber!
This book is magical and beautiful and Garth doesn't hate it, unlike 'Road Out of Santa Fe'!
For your info - a review is meant to be about the BOOK - not the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved me!, April 7, 2001
This review is from: Ripples (A story of Garth Brooks) (Paperback)
I became totally immersed in Ryan and Madeleine. This book opened my own spirituality in a way I would never have dreamed possible. It was a matter of faith. Somehow, magically, this book has restored my faith in the Almighty. Something I had completely lost. How comforting to know that we are truly 'not alone'. This book saved me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book! I couldn't put it down!, October 8, 1999
This review is from: Ripples (A story of Garth Brooks) (Paperback)
Close your eyes, open your mind, and travel back in time. Experience the heart-breaking love story of Ryan and Madeleine Fitzgerald; also known in this life as Garth Brooks and Jenny Smedley. Feel the pain and anguish of Jenny as she relives the moment when Ryan and Madeleine are torn apart. Then read the passionate romance they shared. It'll make you cry; it'll make you ache; but most of all it'll make you a "believer". Even if you don't believe in past lives, you are sure to enjoy this compelling read. Excellent book!
