5.0 out of 5 stars A New Legend of Rock!
This album is definitely one of 10 disks that I will take with me to the heaven...I strongly recomand this to those who had been thinking that the "real" great rock died long time ago. For those who were not born at the era of Led Zeppelin, now you have The Answer to live with in the new legend. Great great album!!! Highly recommended!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars On the right track
If your 16 years old you should love this CD. If your a veteran of music like I am this will fall short of your expections after a listen or two.I just wasn't that moved by these guys this time around. They need to dig a hole lot deeper to in press me the next time around.I think they can do it.I think they have what it takes to make a good CD and I'll be waiting for it.

This is truly one of the best releases in the past 15 years!!!!!

Out of Northern Ireland this four piece has all the swagger and talent of Free, Zeppelin and the Stones. Singer Cormac Neeson sounds like, Ray Gillen (RIP) from Badlands, Chris Cornell of Audioslave and even throw in the Black Crowes, Chris Robinson. This debut really is amazing...The rest of the band match the bluesy depth of Neeson's vocals with OUTSTANDING play. Just listen to the vocals and guitar work on Memphis Water, this is the sound of seasoned veterans.

Eleven tracks just shy of 50 minutes, I urge you to order this on Amazon because it is not in your local record or CD shop.

In the next year, if this band is not as big as Nirvana was in the early 90's, something is really wrong with the music business.

5.0 out of 5 stars not bad for a debut indeed, November 30, 2006

High tension bluesrock from a North Ireland band which throws immediate comparisons with Free, Cry Of Love and the Black Crowes but definitily not Led Zeppelin. The latter was far more broader orientated towards all kind of music and did not focus on rock and blues alone. That said this is not something to compare or not with other bands but is in its own right an amazing album of strong tracks. It tends towards the seventies but sounds also modern in a certain way. Even after heard only a couple of times it is overwhelming. Not a bad track to suffer. Great guitarplay (not unsimilar of the likes of, among others, Jimmy Page c.s.), good vocals and a strong rythmsection with really outstanding songs. For a first album this is too good! Listen to it and enjoy it now, forget what has been and will not return.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Hard Rock in a classic sense, December 19, 2009
By

This review is from: Rise (Audio CD)
I've read pretty much all the reviews here and the first thing I've got to say is the two reviews who gave this 1 star and 2 stars have no idea what rock is about - The one star reviewer said this band sounded like Triumph - not even close. Triumph was a commercial take off with poofy hair and spandex pants that were Rush wannabes - the Answer is no way that - not even close. Next, this band opened for AC/DC to rave reviews - not too many bands open for AC/DC and even get remembered - much less, rave reviews - so - the one star reviewer - stick to your wimpy Triumph, Bread and Air Supply albums, and the 2 star reviewer - if you want to be "impressed", you have to know the meaning of the word - it's not "in pressed" - that's what happened to your taste in music - geez...."in pressed" .

Now, I'm an old rocker - I cut my teeth on Johnny Winter, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Who, Free, Foghat, etc. I know rock, I know good rock and I know commercial BS. I initially thought "who are these guys, calling themselves 'The Answer'" - that's pretty presumptuous - even over the top. I listened and found that they back this up - yes, I'm impressed (that's for Mr 2 Star). They've got complex riffs - yes, they are LOUD - but some rock SOUNDS BETTER LOUD - (again...not your wimpy Air Supply Mr. One Star) - so ... they're in your face loud and hard - GOOD... I like it that way !!! They kick out riffs that blow your hair back and push your eardrums deep into your head - they remind me of Jimmy Page in the Zep 1-4 era - and when someone refers to a guitar as an Axe, these guys take that Axe out and knock down buildings! And ... when it ain't an Axe, it's a chainsaw - there's some slide guitar here that takes me back to my Foghat years. I guess if you want to compare the guitar to a more contemporary guitarist - think of Slash from Guns and Roses. The vocalist reminds me of Chris Robinson from Black Crowes - classic grinding voice, only with way more range than Chris - one reviewer complained that they screamed - what a wimp - anyone remember Roger Daltry's classic "Yeaaaah' on Won't Get Fooled Again? Maybe that was too much for Mr. "Oh No, don't Scream or make it too Loud" - wimp. If you want in your face classic grounded rock - not goth, not metal, not speed guitar, not commercial Nickelback stuff, this is ROCK - GOOD - HARD ROCK - the kind of rock AC/DC likes to have front them, the kind that beckons comparisons to all-time classics like Zeppelin, Foghat - the stuff that rips your speakers apart and pisses off the fuddy old neighbor - then pull this out, turn it up LOUD ('cause Mr Air Supply - some rock is MADE THAT WAY) the Answer may just be the ticket. They're screaming at you from a stack of Marshalls smashing down buildings with a Gibson Axe and Chainsaw, doing a back flip from the top of the stack and kickin over the drum set - bringing it back the way it was meant to be - bringing it back from when it was classic and solid - wimps not admitted - DIEHARD ROCKERS ONLY - LONG LIVE ROCK - ROCK ON !!!!! (oh no ...too loud ....wimps, geez)

5.0 out of 5 stars Classi rock mixed with metal is back, February 5, 2009
This review is from: Rise (Audio CD)
I got tickets to go see AC/DC and heard of the opening band The Answeer was going to play with them and normally you don't get too many opening acts that are good weather alone great but The Answer blew me away. Just when you think that basic rock n roll is dead a band comes along like the Answer. The Rise is a hard hitting classic rock CD with every song. Looking forward to their new on in March.
