4.0 out of 5 stars Mike's Best solo album to date
RISE is without a doubt the best written album from Mike to date. When this man wants to rock he does (Ground Zero) but he can also move you to tears just as easily (Rise). With contributions from The Cult's Billy Duffy as well theres something for most Rock fans here.

Also check out Coloursound, the new band put together by Billy and Mike!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's no Alarm but it's ok.
Where's all the backing vocals? What ever happend to the Mike Peters melody? I guess I was expecting a little more from the man who changed my out look on life when I was a teenager. If I haven't heard of Mike Peters or the alarm I would think this album is pretty good but I know what Mike is capable of putting out and this record is not one of his best efforts.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPERB!!!, October 20, 1999

If you want to listen a solid album from beginning to end, please give this a spin. Ex-Alarm vocalist Mike Peters puts together his best solo effort to date (this is his third cd since leaving the alarm in 1991). Peters lyrics have never been better. He's progressed so much from his big-hair 80's Alarm days (not to say those were bad, far from it). Peters is older, wiser, and has mastered his craft. Former Cult guitarist Billy Duffy adds even more punch with powerful electric guitars on several cuts. Please buy this album, you will not be disappointed.

The best album I bought this year!

Alarm fans will love this album. Anyone who loves good rock n' roll with backbone and a message will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant effort, November 5, 1998

Mike Peters, ex-lead singer of the Welsh group the Alarm, has delivered a superb solo album. Though many Americans don't realize it's his third since his departure from the Alarm in 1991, listeners will love his work. Expect to see additional works from Peters as he teams with ex-cult guitarist Billy Duffy to form Coloursound. This new project expects to release an album in early 1999.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Culmination of Incredible Talent!, March 26, 2001
This review is from: Rise (Audio CD)
By far the most mature and layered album by Peters so far. One wonders what He'll release next? Certainly a rock gem in a world of pre-fab nosense, Mike is the master of DIY music making and this album should not be ignored by real collectors of rock and roll.

5.0 out of 5 stars Load it in your deck press play and enjoy., June 15, 1999

This man never ceases to impress me. He writes lyrics that, if you listen, will blow your head off. This UK version doesn't have the 3 bonus tracks that the US version does.(White noise pt 3, I want you and The message [the mess age mix]) It starts out with the great rock tune "In circles" and if you are in a Rock mood turn your amp up to 11 and play track 8 Ground zero. If you like the more quiet songs listen to Transcendental, Rise, You are to me or any of the other "mellow" songs on the album. All in all this is an 8 out of 5 star album. In my opinion RISE is Mike Peter's best album so far. Load it in your deck, press play and enjoy.

Ole

5.0 out of 5 stars Mike Peters is absolutely brilliant!, October 16, 1998

If I could only buy one album this year, this would be the one. Mike Peters has certainly outdone himself with RISE. "Transcendental" has an enthralling melody that you want to hear over and over again, and the rest of the songs are of equally good quality. Mike has the kind of voice that speaks right to the heart and his lyrics are not the meaningless drivel l keep hearing from other artists. Thanks Mike, for making such a wonderful album!.......Anna

For any Alarm or Mike Peter's fan out there, this album is a must! After the patchy but ok albums Breathe and Feel Free, Mike Peters is right back on form with his song writing skills here! Songs like "In Circles" and "High on the hill" are instant blasts of tune, whilst the single "Rise" is an epic song that grabs you striaght away! "White noise" rocks pretty hard, whilst "First light" is an epic 5 minutes of emotion!
A really great album!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really Great Record, October 15, 1998

This review is from: Rise (Audio CD)
Rise by Mike Peters is a fantastic album. In the midst of year filled with releases from bands that amount to $17.99 singles (see Fastball, Matchbox 20, Semisonic etc. ) here is an album that you can listen all the way through, and never be disappointed. If I had to vote, it would be my choice for "Album Of The Year". The opener, "White Noise Patt II", is a brilliant mix of Techno and rock crunch, with insightful and amusing lyrics. The mod influenced "Ground Zero" soars, as does the heart-wrenching "Wasting Land", and atmospheric "High On The Hill". Elewhere, pop hooks invade the sure-hits "I Want You" (bonus track #1) and "Rise". "In Circles" swirles with phsychadelica. The techno version of Grand Master Flash's "The Message" (bonus Track #2) cannot be missed either. There are so many great tracks, I could go on and on, but instead, why don't you just click that little link above, and buy the album. You won't be disappointed.
