Editorial Reviews

Deluxe edition includes three bonus tracks. 2014 collection from the Young Money label features CEO Lil Wayne, as well as Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Shanell, Lil Twist, Christina Milian and others. Young Money Entertainment COO Cortez Bryant admits, "This compilation is a very special release for the label. We Are Young Money (2009) helped launch the careers of our first generation of acts with Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga. Even though we've been honored with accolades as a company, our hunger hasn't diminished or dwindled. We're hungrier than ever, and we're still building. That goes hand-in-hand with the title Young Money: Rise Of An Empire. We're not going anywhere. We don't plan on stopping-ever. Our goal is the expansion of this Empire with the next generation of kings and queens ruling."

2.0 out of 5 stars Eh.... March 15, 2014
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
It's a rap album. It's what you think it is. Came from poverty, people hate on them, they have a lot of money to spend, they have the capacity for violence with guns... etc.

Not a lot of upbeat catchy tunes that I can use at the gym. Which is disappointing because that's the #2 reason I continue to buy rap.

And... being 35 with a professional job which requires an advanced degree, I may have progressed out of listening to hip-hop and rap. I can't reference anything from this album in professional company. This album does nothing for me personally either.

If you're like me - professional and educated with aspirations of continuing to grow personal net worth through smart financial decision making and progressing in the corporate world, yet still grew up on hip hop and rap in the 90's and have a nostalgic pull to Dr. Dre, Snoop, Wu Tang, DMX, Too Short, Easy-E, Ice Cube, 2-Pac etc...- there's nothing new said in this album and no real cool beats worth buying to listen in the truck or at the gym.

BUT - If you're young and like to dream of money, like party music, are party focused, are not a woman, and are still not tired of hearing about shooting people with Glocks by rappers who would never do it themselves because they have too much to lose.. then you may like it.

Not knocking the effort. Those rappers and singers are doing their job, working hard at it, and doing it well. - just giving my review for people who may be like me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Meh.... May 10, 2014
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Pretty much your standard Young Money/Cash Money release. No one really stands out too much, production is average & no one on this album tried too hard to impress with their lyrical content.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's aiiiiiiiiite March 27, 2014
Format:Audio CD
That is stretched out for a reason and one of the stars is for the production. The beats are hot like always with this camp but they have nothing to talk about. It is a poor effort for a group cd once again. I'm glad I bought the deluxe edition because the regular one only has 12 songs. Young Money has some good rappers but they all lack concepts which steers listeners away. I am disappointed because I was really looking forward to something new from Lil Wayne since his last album was trash. Please don't waste your money just buy the bootleg.

1.0 out of 5 stars One word: Terrible March 18, 2014
By Nick
Format:Audio CD
This albums a disgrace to hip hop i cant believe people enjoy this i mean even the beat on back it up and senile sound the same this is a very lazy effort to make a group album. I suggest you listen to other relevent groups in hip hop that are actually putting in work such as tde, asap mob, even raider klan
