This Should Have Six Stars. . .,
By Jacob Conrad (Pacific Northwest) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rise of the Order (Jake Adams International Thriller Series #5) (Paperback)
Who thought you could combine nanotechnology with the Teutonic Knights, but this book does it. I've now read everything by this author, and this is his best book to date. Jake Adams, who has been around much longer than Jack Bauer, is a hero with just as many flaws, yet with much more sex appeal. He's a stud. The writing in this Jake Adams International Thriller Series is so compelling it will soon find its way to the big screen. Better than the Bourne Series. Better than Bond. Any producers out there?

This review is from: Rise of the Order (A Jake Adams International Espionage Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
I've read all of the Jake Adam's novels and this one was the first one I consider a total let down. I saw a downward spiral with Vital Force but was hoping Rise of Order would get back to the mostly action-packed adventure seen in the Dolomite Solution and the Extreme Faction. I guess the Extreme Faction was my favorite of the series. I think this novel could have been more interesting if there was less sex and more action. From previous reviews, it appears the author might be trying to project a James Bond image and I don't mind that, but I didn't get that impression at all. The first couple of Jake Adams novels are more plot driven with a lot of action. I don't typically read novels where the male "hero" have a female counterpart that is just as bad as he is because I think somethings are just suppose to be manly (smile); however, I liked the Toni/Jake pairing and their ability to read each other and kick some serious butt. I absolutely hated most of this novel, especially the ending and am not sure if I'll get the next one if the series continues.
