One of 2003's Best Metal Albums,
By Shanus Jr. (Sun Valley, ID) - See all my reviews

For those of you out there who can enjoy brutal, precise death metal, don't skip this one. Monstrosity throws together a very nice mix of straight-forward brutality, a few technical (and very tightly executed) rhythms, and a little bit of melody for a nicely rounded release. Awesome production as well. Highly recommended for anyone into thrashy or "groovy" death metal.

I'm not sure what some of these people are listening to; but this is my favorite Monstrosity album!!!! This is a riff heavy and monster guitar solos of an album. Pick this up ASAP!!!! If you like your death metal heavy and more old school this is for you.

I have every album from this band and it would be terribly difficult for me to choose one over the other. This album is no different. The music on this album is composed in the same way that it was on "In Dark Purity" It isn't as intricate as their first 2 albums but definitly no less entertaining. Also I prefer their new vocalist (Jason Avery) to thier old one (George). Even if you mainly listen to just thrash or speed metal I think that you'll like this album. It's very melodic but brutal at the same time. If your a lover of all things metal (like me) buy this album.

Excellent death metal with a technical twist,
By Stephen Hawking "Steffie" (San Mateo, CA USA) - See all my reviews

I read some of the reviews for this album before I bought it, and the one-star reviews made me look at the cd closer before I bought it. The one-star reviews previously on here are completely biased and baseless. I always think it is hilarious how people can like Atheist, but hate Cynic, 2 very similar bands. Just like the people who write a lot of amazon.com reviews; They just hate one band, then love another similar one. I'm not biased at all. I like music that I think is very talented, and the guy that says he likes Immolation but that this band is horrible is kidding himself I hope. It might be a stretch to compare the two, but I think someone who likes talented death metal bands would agree that both of them are very talented death metal bands with much technicality. This album is actually a very good one. I would highly recommend it, because it really stands out as being very creative even though it is not groundbreaking. If you like Decapitated or other quasi-technical death metal bands, this band should be right up your alley. If you live in an alley literally, you would probably not like this CD, because it costs money, and people who live in alleys are poor. This CD has some very tasteful guitar solos and some very catchy riffs that you can bob your head to. I highly recommend this CD, and even though I have many technical death metal CDs in my collection, this one is in my top 5 for sure. I really recommend this band, and I think it is very good for people to support good bands and to get them to keep making great albums. By the way, one of the guys who gave this album one star, also gave a Dying Fetus (technical death/grind) album one star also and a bunch of pathetic punk bands 5 stars. He obviously has no understanding of complex and talented music. Just another mall-punk trying to fit in with the Misfits and Nekromantix gang. What a sad world we live in. Hope you enjoy this CD thoroughly, and a good day to all. Except for Elijah Wood. That guy is a f*g.

That's all this band is. I wouldn't recommend this album to a dead man. If you own this CD, I will come to your home, burn it down, smoke all of your family's ashes to get a buzz, then piss on the rest.

Please... Monstrosity is terrible and i know alot of grind and death bands who are much superior then them. Not realy one good song here and the lirycs truly dumb plus it gets boring and old--sounds like crappy cannibal corpse which sucks! Skip this insted check out scar culture, lost soul, phobia, embalmer, kalitas,ac,mortician, vomitory, immolation, death, skinless, rune, and others who actullie sound good but leave garbage like cannibal corpse and monstrosity alone... In the trash, where they belong!
