When I saw the movie previews for "Rise of the Guardians" and noticed that Alexandre Desplat was going to be scoring the film I knew there would be potential there for a strong score. I've enjoyed Desplat's scoring in past original film scoring projects of his but had not found a work of his creation that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish - usually, with his scores there would be some stand-out tracks that were thrilling or stirring to listen to, but then there seemed to be a lot of music around them that didn't really seem to reach out and grab me emotionally. Don't get me wrong, Mr. Desplat's film music has always been well written, yet it hasn't had the spark I've felt in other of the great film composers, and then "Rise of the Guardians" happened here at the end of 2012...

I listened to the short samples of the score available online prior to its release - the 30-second-ish clips just to whet the musical appetite, and I thought, again, that I might be on the edge of something really special and, upon purchasing the album and listening, I have not been disappointed; to my ears this is Desplat's finest work yet for any film.

"Rise of the Guardians" is big, orchestral music and has a variety of excellent musical themes throughout - it is strongly thematically driven in its presentation, which makes it very listenable. I've found the energetic theme that first appears in the track "Calling the Guardians" is quite hummable, and it is not the only theme you're likely to find on your mind even after listening through the score.

There is so much variety here in the musical selections: from single instrument solos that flow gently all the way up to full, pounding orchestral intensity.

What an incredible soundtrack that Desplat creates here for this animated feature from Dreamworks, truly impressed. Desplat never disappoints and this is no exception, watching the film with the score makes you realize why the filmmakers wanted him as composer, he brings such life and character to the soundtrack of this film. I definitely recommend seeing the film and checking out the score on your own, it's well worth it.

Favorite tracks:
Track 5 - Wind Take Me Home!
Track 18 - Easter
Track 21 - Jack's Memories
Track 23 - Jamie Believes
Track 26 - Dreamsand Miracles

I really enjoy most every track. The only one i'm not crazy about is the end credits with the vocal. The operatic type vocal doesn't fit in for me with the rest of the soundtrack. And maybe i'm tone deaf, but it sounds like there are a couple of places where the vocal is off key. Shipping and packaging were good.

Really good music! I only had to listen to a couple tracks to make the decision to buy it! The music is amazing, I love to just listen to it! It's energetic, scary, sweet, sad, EVERYTHING with just a touch of magic! I really recommend this CD!

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but the soundtrack is even better. This is one of my favorite new CDs this year, and my sons, ages 7 and 9, also want to listen to it. I highly recommend it.

I find it hard to believe that there has only been a handful of reviews for this soundtrack. I had to buy this album as soon as I watched the movie a couple of years ago. The music and it's orchestration is just so wonderful, I can vividly imagine every scene in which each track was played. The sentiments in each part is clearly painted by the music. I think it is the finest work by Mr Desplat, though I find his other soundtracks quite good too, with The King's Speech being one of my go to soundtracks for many a day.

I hadn't listened to Guardians for a while now, but I am so glad I put it on today, I remember how much I enjoyed the movie and loved the soundtrack. It's a real work of art! The theme sounds are original and are well incorporated into the other tracks that makes many of them recognisable as Guardian themes.

I especially love Renee Fleming's Still Dream - what a complex but sweet song! It is so easy to listen to this entire album without feeling like you want to press fast forward on some songs.

So if you like orchestral music and soundtracks, this is a Must-Have.

I knew I needed to own this soundtrack the second the movie started the first time I saw it in the theatre. Truly a work of art.
