not for all windows,
By

This review is from: Burglabar
Buyers should be aware that this device will not fit properly on all types of windows. I have windows that are composed of two panes of glass, side by side. One pane is fixed (stationary), and the other slides open to one side. The window cannot slide over this device. I should have realized that before buying it, but I didn't really understand what a "sash" window was. I did install them anyway, because I don't need to open the windows past a certain point, but if you have the type of window I described above and you want to use this device as intended (i.e., to be able to slide the window over it when the security bar is flipped down flat), it won't work.
I'm still giving it a good review because my ignorance is not the seller's fault, I just want to clarify for others what it is not good for, so others won't make my mistake. Other than not being able to slide my window over it, it is easy to stick on and is very secure on the window. It's not as ugly as having a big bar in the window, but I really should have purchased a regular clamp type lock at the hardware store for a lot less.

These are great!,

These are really great - they are clear so they're not very obvious, and they do what they're supposed to do. You can snap them flat to open the window all the way, or click them into the lock position. It will be very hard for intruders or small children to get the window open. A burglar wouldn't waste his time making the amount of noise he'd make to get in with one of these in place. And when I moved I just soaked them with nail polish remover and with a little convincing they came off. I ordered 12 more for my new house!

Old lady feels secure!,

I like to keep one of my aluminum windows cracked open just wide enough to let my cats go in and out. Of course, a burglar could easily reach in and raise the window and go in and out, too. When this type of window is closed it is secure as the release latches are inside but opened it is vulnerable as an intruder can easily access the latches.
I needed a lock but didn't want to have to drill any holes or go into a big production. I am not handy. The Burglabar absolutely did the trick, even though it is tiny, about two inches in length. It fits vertically on the top pane at any level you choose, allowing the window to be opened to any desired height. It sticks right on the upper pane with a strong adhesive and its plastic hinge-bar can be positioned and locked to prevent the lower pane from being raised. Trying to raise the lower window when the Burglabar is in place will result in the window whacking against the bar. So the window cannot be budged. If you wish to raise the window to a different height at any time, the bar can be clicked flat and the window will easily ride over it. Positioned as it is behind the glass, an intruder has no way of accessing it. This is a simple, nifty gizmo, and this price, as compared to the price from many merchants, is very reasonable. For $10.90 with shipping, you can have peace of mind. This merchant is in Canada, but my item was shipped immediately and I got it in 7 days.
