About the Author
LaVerne C. WIlliams, Editor of Rising to the Dawn: A Rape Survivor's Journey Into Healing, and herself a victim of rape, won a grant from the Puffin Foundation for her work on The Surviovr Project, from which this literary expression of the internal landscapes of women who have been sexually assaulted was borne.
Ms. Williams is a featured poet at several New York City locations, including The Langston Hughes Community Public Library, WBAI-FM, The Knitting Factory, and The Nuyorican Poets Cafe.
