The Mighty Warlord has risen!,

This review is from: Rising Out of the Ashes (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
Not to be confused with the 90's band who couldn't be creative enough to come up with their own unique name, this is a new release from the early 80's metal band that still holds a strong cult following two decades later. This release is definitely Warlord of old, but with more mature song-writing and much better production. If you like heavy, melodic, symphonic, epic, doom metal, this album is sure to wet your whistle! Features the original song-writer and guitarist William J. Tsamis, Fates Warning drummer Mark Zonder (also an original 80's band member), and newcomer Joacim Cans who is best known for his vocal ballets with the metal band Hammerfall. Strongly recommended for anyone who enjoyed the metal of the early 80's.

This one is even better than the other Warlord album I have,The Best Of (which is also great). Pretty much every song is excellent except Lucifer's Hammer (which is not new) and Sons Of A Dream. Also, Invaders is good, but not great. Every other track is absolutely awesome, especially Winds Of Thor, My Name is Man and (currently my favorite) Achilles Revenge. Great guitar riffs, great voice (the lyrics is silly, of

The Cannons of Destruction have returned!,

Rising Out of the Ashes is the comeback album from the underground classic American power metal band Warlord. Coming 16 years after the band's last release, original members William Tsamis and Mark Zonder (Fates Warning) teamed up with none other than Hammerfall vocalist Joacim Cans to release an album of (mostly) new Warlord material.
Rising Out of the Ashes featured a reworked version of the song "Lucifer's Hammer", as well as 8 new songs. The album is a worthy addition to the Warlord catalog, and sounds like it could have been released during the band's Metal Blade days. It's epic in an old-school way, without the symphonic touches of modern power metal. The lyrics, like all good 80's power metal, focus on science-fiction, fantasy, mythology, and the occult. This is classic power metal from start to finish, and should appeal to fans of classic bands like Fifth Angel, Crimson Glory, Warrior, and much of the NWOBHM movement.
