4.0 out of 5 stars The book is a little bland
I have picked the book up and put it down several times since I received it. It doesn't hold my attention for very long. Don't get me wrong, I'm learning some interesting stuff about investing, but it's too drawn out for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lousy self-promoting, seminar style book
If you're looking for a book that was mostly written by someone other than Kendra, has information about housing markets that is outdated, and overall seems like a free seminar at a cheap hotel, then this book is for you.

Shorting the real estate market at the release of this book would have been the smart play.

The book is superficial and lacking in content. Not worth buying.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for gaining good psychological mindset for risk; Horrible for practical real esate advice, April 11, 2009
This review is from: Risk & Grow Rich: How to Make Millions in Real Estate (Hardcover)
Kendra was a typical real estate investor that got caught up in superficial appreciation in the recent real estate bubble. She believed that areas like las vegas, pheonix, and florida were bubble proof. Needless to say she was totally wrong. I imagine she had to have made several bad investments right after writing this book. The mindset she presents in regards to risk taking is good advice but very few pieces of useful real estate investing advice is given in this book. It appears that her success in real estate was only due to ridiculous housing appreciation created by bad mortgage lending practices.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, Fun Read with Some Good Tips, July 29, 2007
Kendra Todd is an excellent business woman which she clearly demonstrated to Donald Trump on the second season of The Apprentice. Her book demonstrates her business acumen but is mainly an inspirational work to try and show the reader that anything can be possible. She explains how she ended up in real estate after starting a luxury magazine with friends that was $66,000 in the hole after just the first issue. She tells of all the obstacles she had to overcome after graduating college and being unemployed and how much work it took to break into property sales and investing.

Through out the book Kendra gives personal examples of mistakes she's made, risks she's taken, and how she runs her business so that you can see that making it in real estate isn't easy. It's clear that hard work, determination, and perseverance were crucial to all her successes.

Chapter 7 finally gets into to actually taking the steps to buying properties. Her 10 Steps To Turning Risk Into Opportunity can be broad but they do offer some good tips for how to set goals, plan, and achieve. The 10 steps are...

1. Decide What You Want

2. Figure Out What You Must Do To Get It

3. Identify The Risks Involved

4. Figure Out How To Minimize Your Risk Factors

5. Mitigate

6. Make Your Risk Plan

7. Take Fast, Decisive Action

8. Think On Your Feet And Deal With Surprises

9. Reap The Rewards

10. Repeat!

This book is by no means the all inclusive guide to investing but it has good ideas and shows the reader that with the right mind set and the right knowledge, anyone can be an investor. It leaves you with a good feeling and really makes you want to get out there and take those risks. The key is if you really have it in you to try.

This book was written in the style of a college kid's essay. Published in 2006, it suggests investing in the Vegas real estate bubble, which we all know has gone bust. I paid one penny for an autographed copy of this book. It was a waste of money.

I am in the process of obtaining my Real Estate License so I made this purchase, it is an interesting book. The book is "copyright 2006" a time when Las Vegas, NV and Phoenix, AZ could do no wrong so they seem to put a lot of emphasis on these two markets. We all know these were two of the most hard hit areas when it came to foreclosures. Never the less, this book is a good investment, particularly on Amazon where I purchased it for a penny. Kendra is a woman of faith and principle and I intend to follow her formula to "risk and grow rich."

1.0 out of 5 stars Obviously an idiot, February 20, 2007
This review is from: Risk & Grow Rich: How to Make Millions in Real Estate (Hardcover)
What a terrible book. I cannot believe that anyone should have to suffer reading it. It is sad to think that many people will lose a great deal of money in the coming years based on taking such poor advice. A fool and his or her money are soon parted, say goodbye to your ARM!
Do not worry, you can start over perhaps a little wiser...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book!!!, May 16, 2006
This review is from: Risk & Grow Rich: How to Make Millions in Real Estate (Hardcover)
I purchased Kendra Todd's book Risk and Grow Rich and it was a complete inspiration to me. Being only 23 I wanted to start using the money that I have earned wisely and start setting myself up for the future. So I thought that real estate would be the best thing to start building a strong portfolio. But being so young I was scared at all the risk that was involved in investing with real estate. But after reading Kendra's book my whole outlook changed. This book was very inspiring and informational to me and was an absolutely wonderful book. It covered every single concern and fear that I have, and really helped me over come every one of them, and I'm looking into purchasing my first real estate property before the end of the year. Kendra Todd is a great inspiration and role model to every young woman out there that strive to be successful!!! This book was absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend it to not only young women striving to be successful, but to everyone out there that is looking into building a strong real estate portfolio!!!
