4.0 out of 5 stars green not as good as yellow
i used the dark green dye for 3 items and none of them turned out well, but it seems to be in line with the manufacturer's recommendations (at end).

1) Leggings - 93% Polyester 7% Spandex - went from white to light gray. didn't take the color at all.
2) Cotton gym shorts - took the dye, but had a stone washed look. Kind of faded.
3) Tank top -...

1.0 out of 5 stars Dyes OK but bleeds for WEEKS afterwards
If you're hoping to revive something by changing the color, you'd be better off just getting rid of it and buying nhew--this dye will bleed on your other items in the washer for WEEKS and multiple washes. It just isn't worth having your other items ruined with weird color marks (that in turn are hard to wash out). The new color of the dyed item itself doesn't even stay...

1) Leggings - 93% Polyester 7% Spandex - went from white to light gray. didn't take the color at all.
2) Cotton gym shorts - took the dye, but had a stone washed look. Kind of faded.
3) Tank top - 60% Cotton 40% Polyester - took the dye, but had a stone washed look. Kind of faded. Also, the elastic stitching around the seams stayed white.

This is what the manufacturer recommends:
USE
100% cotton, linen, silk, wool, ramie
Synthetics such as rayon, nylon and acetate
Fiber blends with at least 60% cotton or other dyeable fiber
(Blends will tint evenly but will not achieve full color)

DO NOT USE
Fabrics with 50% or more polyester content
100% acrylic, fiberglass, or metallic fibers
Fabrics with rubber backing (bath mats or throw rugs)
Fabrics with special finishes such as water repellents
Fabrics with bleach damage or extensive staining
Fabrics washable only in cold water or labeled "dry clean only"

This can subdue loud prints and turn blah pinks into a more flattering color.
I never got compliments on my silk robe and print blouse before.
I use dyes once in a while, but this color does great things.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dyes OK but bleeds for WEEKS afterwards, April 15, 2010
If you're hoping to revive something by changing the color, you'd be better off just getting rid of it and buying nhew--this dye will bleed on your other items in the washer for WEEKS and multiple washes. It just isn't worth having your other items ruined with weird color marks (that in turn are hard to wash out). The new color of the dyed item itself doesn't even stay intense for more than a couple of washes anyway before it starts to fade. A complete waste of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wishy-Washy Dye, March 26, 2011
I dyed a shirt with this pink dye and it turned out a bright, ugly pink. I followed all the instructions, and I felt it really didn't turn out as it should. It was uneven. I washed it again dried it and wore it anyway. The next time I washed it, it turned a very light pink (which was what I wanted) but it's still uneven (some parts of the shirt are very noticeably darker than others). Perhaps this is the cheapest dye Amazon sells for a reason?

4.0 out of 5 stars Stain Be Gone!, March 15, 2011

Purchased this dye for a bra I have had that somehow got a big coffee stain on it. I didn't want to get rid of it since it fit just fine -- I used the stove top method. The bra was originally a light pink - now it's a deep purpley red. Looks great. Thanks RIT (ps - haven't washed it with other clothing to see if it bleeds like other users have said. Maybe test it by itself first to see)

4.0 out of 5 stars Sure it bleeds, but it's pretty, February 4, 2011
Make sure you use enough and dye long enough and you will get a good wine color. I've done several items so I just have a "wine load" for the washer and don't worry about the bleeding.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, not true to color, August 14, 2010
I was hoping to zap some life back into a faded pair of jeans. It was horrible. It is not navy blue at all; it is purple. I am stuck with a horrendous pair of purple-people-eater jeans. Not true to color AT ALL, and it bleeds. I washed them several times before I washed the pair of jeans with my other pairs, and it still bleeds. What a waste. Don't buy this!

This product arrived as promised and well packaged and it is one of the few places that you can still conveniently get Rit dye. I used it according to directions and it did the job. Amazon always delivers!
