5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ALBUMS, August 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Rita Coolidge (Audio CD)
After hearing Rita sing "Superstar" on Joe Cocker's Mad Dog's and Englishmen album I was hooked on her voice. I bought this album not knowing anything about it. It blew me away. It's soulful, jazzy and delta sound it exquisite. The songs she picked were perfectly suited for her voice. "Second Story Window" and "I Always Called Them Mountains" are my favorite cuts. "Seven Bridges Road" and "That Man Is My Weakness" are up there as well. I've been waiting a long time for this album to come out on CD. I still like the sound from the vinyl but with a CD I can listen to it without any breaks. If you are a Rita Coolidge fan but have never had the opportunity to hear this album, I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars mini-review of the song "second story window", July 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Rita Coolidge (Audio CD)
everything in the above review is true, but i'm amazed that no mention was made of the most beautiful song on the whole album, "second story window" a song by marc benno,a friend and collaborator of leon russell's. this song has stuck in my mind since i first heard it. it reminds us to not pay too much attention to what others think, say and do. it also reminds us that death is just a sequence of life that we all will be going through. rita is accompanied on double-tracked acoustic guitar by stephen stills. a most beautiful song, beautifully sung with an important message to take away. dr sluggo

5.0 out of 5 stars Her First, & most Bluesy Recording, June 27, 2002

John Jensen (Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rita Coolidge (Audio CD)
Glad to see Rita Coolidges' first { actually there is a recording before this one, but I believe Rita hated it; it's never been released?? } album out on CD. I have to mention to anyone who buys this, that Rita's voice sounds almost identical to Bonnie Bramletts on this recording. The recording after this one she sounds like she does today. She backed up Delaney and Bonnie on their sessions. This is an excellent album, but my favorite of Rita's is "FALL INTO SPRING". I feel that is her best recording ever, and I'll be damned if I can find it anywhere. Hopefully one day it will come out on CD. She has one of the finest voices in pop music.
