Caveat Emptor, August 19, 2010
I installed this bike stem and the screw stripped. It is bulky and although the idea is a good one, I would stay away from this. I contacted the company and they are definiteoly not interested in having this returned to them, but I will see what happens.
Find a different way to raise your handlebars!

Not worthy of the simplistic world of bicycling, July 6, 2011
This review is from: Ritchey Adjustable Stem (Misc.)
I don't get Ritchey, it seems like this is yet another company needing to expand their component offerings by seeking the lowest bidder with a different design. The headtube clamp section in this 'Comp' model is 2 seperate floating halves. In order for you to align the clamp bolts so as to not strip them, you have to loosen the stem adjustment screw too, mind you it is a different size bolt. This stem uses 3 different sized bolts! You need to take a toolbox worth of tools and patience to adjust your 'adjustable' stem on the road. I wanted a stem I could raise early in the season, or when my back dictates on a century ride, and I want to do it quickly and with minimal tools. I wound up buying a super expensive 'Look' Ergo stem. Just as heavy, more adjustable(length and height) and one wrench does it all. Unlike Ritchey, customer service at 'Look' are eager USA bike saavy gents willing to help, and at first ring! However, if you want to be cheap and smack yourself at the realization that your spending too much time figuring the tightening sequence of this stem, or worst, you damaged it right out the bag (yup, no box, no instructions), then the Ritchey Comp Adj Stem is your huckleberry. Be cheap on stuff that has no moving parts like seatposts, handlebars, panniers and racks, conversely spend more money in comfort areas like shoes, saddles and ah...adjustable stems!

Ritchey adjustable bike stem, September 4, 2009
Nice adjustable stem. I needed a little more height on my Specialized Sirrus flat bars. I have other Ritchey components so it was consistent with rest of the bike.
