Don't be fooled by hi priced ornately designed grips. These are perfect. I'm #215 and I ride 3000 miles a year in rocky mountainous freeride country. I use a death grip to hang on to my bars (for dear life:). So they get vigorous use.

Also buy the original true grips. NOT the neopreme foam version.

Pros:

1) Thick. Twice as thick as any I've used. So thick it does not wear out. You will change bikes before you change this grip.

2) The ultra dense thick rubber adds considerable shock absorption. My arms were beat up post ride with the thinner grips. When I changed, I noticed a difference on the first ride.

3) Hex shapes makes it easy to hang on.

4) Cheap

Cons:

Like all grips that do not lock on, this grip can migrate on the bars which is annoying. To solve this, I butt the grip right against my brake lever mount. If you need more room, cut a piece of rubber tubing (old air hose, garden hose, pvc etc), and tape that to the bar in front of the grip. This stops the movement. I use black electrical tape which holds up well.


I found the version with the open end works best. The closed end (rubber end) version tends to tear when you crash and burn. The open end has the hard plastic bar end cap to take the beating instead.

How to put these on? It's snap: Use a compressor to squirt air under it and slide it in place. A little alcohol helps it slide. Or use hair spray with alcohol.

I like a bicycle grip that really helps you hang onto the handlebars without your having to expend much energy. These grip's hexagonal shape and sticky rubber composition help you do that rather than giving you forearm pump trying to hang on to a round/small diameter or "greasy" feeling grip.

I took off one star for the Ritchey Truegrips because they could be much softer to dampen shock and vibrations on an unsuspended bicycle with high pressure tires like my hybrid bicycle but that is a minor quibble. This hexagonal shape along with a ribbed style rubber or gel compound grips are my favorite as they are like velcro for your hands on your handlebars. I also like foam grips but only Grab On brand because every knockoff brand I've ever tried gets greasy and very slippery when wet from sweat or rain.

I find this to be a comfortable grip. It also feels more substantial then some other grip's I have used.
