5.0 out of 5 stars rough and tough November 24, 2004
I recently used my weatherproof journal for the first time cycling rough terrain and through a couple of thunderstorms in the south of Madagascar. The journal, after jotting down most experiences in almost all weather conditions, and after 8 days and 40 pages later, still looks exactly like the day I bought it - that is new. Not one smudged or faded page. I love this product - it's rekindled my writing interest in addition to being a very useful way to ensure those memories on life's less traveled roads are not lost. And its funky yellow plastic cover ensures you never have to squint or look around much capturing that golden moment led by inspiration! Fantastic product I can fully reccommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product January 2, 2009
This is the size I carry in my pocket everywhere I go. The paper is clean and contrasts well for reading pencil or BLACK ink. The spiral is the toughest I have ever found in this type of notebook and I have never had one tear, split, or spread. The paper stays usable wet, cold (-40), and hot (120+). The edges of the paper will show wear and have slight warping when exposed to water. This does not affect notes taken and the paper is still usable.
NOTE: Remember, waterproof paper is only HALF the answer. If you write with normal ink it will still run when it gets wet (and will probably smear on this paper anyway since inks are water-based). Use a Rite in the Rain pen or a pencil to record your notes and keep them "weather-proof".

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! November 6, 2011

I really love this rite in the rain journal. It works just as advertised. I used a pencil when I wrote in mine. Just know that you can't really erase the pencil on this paper like you can on normal paper. It just kind of smudges the graphite around and doesn't really remove it.

I'd recommend getting one of those tiny clipboards to use with this. That's what I did and it really helped while I was in the field. Here's one that's a good size: A&W Products Masonite Clipboard, Brown, Memo Size 6 x 9 Inch with Wire Clip (04015)

5.0 out of 5 stars great pocket note book
One thing write in the rain misses in its pitch is sweat. In the desert you sweat no doubt about it. That will turn your note book to mush in ur pocket or at least warp it. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Field Work
Good size for jotting notes. Paper works great and holds up well under wet conditions. Graph rules are good size (not too big, not too small). Cover is durable enough.
