Doesn't Fall Apart in the Rain, but Difficult to Write On,
By
This review is from: Rite in the Rain All Weather Journal Field-flex Standard (4 5/8" X 7 1/4") (Misc.)
I spend a lot of time outdoors and require having paper available to write things down. The Rite in the Rain products are only marginally satisfactory. They do an excellent job of not falling apart in the rain, and if that were all it took, I would definitely rate these a 5.However, a notebook isn't much use if you can't actually write in it, and it's very difficult to use a normal ball point pen or a .7mm pencil on these. You either have to have a very fine point mechanical pencil (which almost feels like you're scraping the protective film off the paper) or you have to purchase one of the high priced Rite in the Rain branded pens. I've had better success just keeping a normal notebook in a freezerproof ziploc bag.

From my daughter:I used this field notebook for a month of geologic fieldwork in Bangladesh and eastern India. It held up extremely well and I found it easy to write in. I used a .7mm mechanical pencil. I was so happy with this notebook's performance that I just ordered two more for future fieldwork.
