I bought this book light and gave it as a gift. It turned out to be a very cool design; the head can be spread apart for a more diffused area of light, which is awesome for those who want to read and not have to adjust the light from one page to another. There was one problem though. The features says that the book light have 3 modes: the off mode, a dim light mode, and the brightest light mode. Suddenly, after testing it out THREE times, the book light lost either its dim or brightest light mode (even with new batteries). I say "either" because we did not get a chance to get use to how bright or dim it could be since we only tried it out, but I am leaning towards the lost of bright light mode because now it only turns on (quite dim) and off )=

I was surprised by the amount of light this little thing generated. Before I chose it, I carefully reviewed many similar products on Amazon.com and elsewhere, and found this RiteLite to be the best choice for size and price. The two spare batteries on board is a great idea.

Product received doesn't match photos and or description. Boom and lamp is the same and fans out to illuminate more area, has push button switch on head of lamp, 4 LEDs with 3 settings, High Med Off, however the base is larger (longer and narrower) than photos and detachable clip is much smaller. Defeats the reason I purchased!

Photo shows a large black clip that would lock onto the bottom of base, product received had small gray magnetic clip attachment that won't even hold the weight of the lamp. Poo on you!

Also has a book spring clip on top of base which is not shown on photos.

I have an Amazon Kindle DX, and sometimes like to read before I go to bed. I like to use a book light so that I don't disturb my husband while he is asleep. I had received a book light for Christmas with my Kindle that broke within 2-3 days after I got it. It was made of cheap plastic, so I wanted something more sturdy and that would hopefully not break within 2-3 days after receiving it.

I purchased this item because I liked the idea of the light being able to spread to shine on more of the surface, and also that it had a magnet to hold the light. When I received the light, I first noticed it was fairly bright for a semi-small book light. When I clipped onto the DX with the magnet the light was way too heavy to even stay..It keeps moving around, which makes it very impossible to use. If you are going to have to sit and move a light around every time you turn around while trying to read then the item is useless. So back to the drawing board to find another light. This light would possibly be good for a regular book but not for the Kindle. I would not recommend buying this item for use with the Kindle DX.

bought this as a gift for my girlfriend...it broke after she used it one time. I tried to turn the batteries around and put in a different set of batteries. It didn't work still.
