5.0 out of 5 stars Five stars is'nt enough! Laura is the best!
This is one of the best albums I've ever heard! It's simply the best!

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful singing voice. . .
This is my first Laura Pausini CD. It didn't meet all my expectations. Pausini has a beautiful voice, but some of the songs are overproduced, i.e., overwhelmed with instruments, that drown out or distract from her singing. I would have preferred a more "unplugged" CD that allows her voice to shine.

If you like the type of songs Celine Dion sings, you'll...

I love her voice, she sings with emotion.
Her very first songs, LA SOLITUDINE (LONELINESS), NON C'È ( NOT HERE), STRANI AMORI (STRANGE LOVES) and GENTE (PEOPLE) are GREAT!
Those songs are made in new versions, and the are REALY GREAT!
And the song SEAMISAI is also in a new version but now it is a duett with the brazilian singer Gilberto Gil.
Let's not forget the song ONE MORE TIME on the soundtrack for the movie MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE starring Kevin Costner. I love it!
I just want to say that this is one of the best albums ever!
Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars la meravigliosa Laura, March 11, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: E Ritorno Da Te (Italian) (Audio CD)
This is my first Laura Pausini CD, but certainly won't be my last; it is an exceptional compilation spanning the years 1993 through 2000, though the early ones have been updated, and read "2001 version".
"Seamisai (sei que me amavas)" is a duet with Brazilian singer/songwriter Gilberto Gil from Laura's 1996 "Le Cose Che Vive" CD, and she sings one song in English, from the soundtrack of the 1999 Kevin Costner film "Message in a Bottle", and it is exquisite, and features the great Dean Parks on guitar.
A winner of many awards, Laura won first place with "La Solitudine" at the prestigious San Remo Festival in '93 when she was 19 years old, and third place with "Strani Amori" in '95.

Laura's voice has a tender and smoky sound when singing softly, and has a powerful high register which she uses masterfully (in this respect she can be compared somewhat to Celine Dion) and her pitch is perfection...it reminds me of a tennis player hitting the ball in the sweetspot of the racket...Laura hits each note in its sweetspot.
The arrangements are lush and beautiful, and many of the songs incredibly lovely, and could not possibly be sung better. The booklet insert has all the lyrics, recording info, and many photos of the doe-eyed Ms. Pausini. The sound is terrific and total playing time is 66'24.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of her best Albums, May 6, 2006
This review is from: E Ritorno Da Te (Italian) (Audio CD)
This CD is one of the best that Laura Pausini has brought out. It is a collection of her best songs during the decade of the 90s till 2000. Laura Pausini is considered, along with Nek, Eros etc., one of Italy's most known artist in the international music scene. As for her voice, well it is very beautiful and crystal clear. To make the long story short, the songs of this cd are very good and some extraordinary, some are slow (ballads) while some others 'more fast' (pop songs). Either way, buying this cd you will not regret it. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Just right, January 2, 2002
This review is from: E Ritorno Da Te (Italian) (Audio CD)
I was a bit disappointed when I learned Laura's new album was going to be a greatest hits compilation. The two new songs meant that I would have to buy it, even if I have all her albums, plus imports! What makes the album worthwhile to an ardent fan are the re-recordings of her 93/94 hits, gracefully without the strained, untrained voice of a younger Laura. "Strani amori" is the most faithful to the original arrangement, while "Non c'è" and "Gente" are more upbeat--the former dancy, and the latter almost bossa nova--and "La solitudine" has a deep tone of melancholy aided by the desperate wail of the piano. Disappointing, though, is the duet on "Seamisai", where Gilberto Gil sounds like he hasn't learned how to sing. Look for the original, more emotional version on 1996's "Le cose che vivi" instead. The other hits are well-chosen, all even someone just being introduced to Laura Pausini will definitely enjoy. Daniel Nelgrado shows further songwriting dexterity on both "E ritorno da te" and "Una storia che vale," and Dado Parisini's rather complex arrangements make up for the elegant tunes. I hope this album will very well give Laura the further international break she rightfully deserves. A fine album, precisely encompassing nearly a decade's career of one of the best Italian singers around.

PS: "Dime", which is found only on the Spanish version, is pretty good as well.

I really like this CD. I am an Italian speaker, and I love listening to Laura sing in Italian. Before buying the CD, on the radio I had heard the Spanish versions of 'Tra te e il Mare', 'Ritorno da te', and 'Incancellabile'. The Italian versions were a pleasent discovery for me. Laura is very talented.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't stop listening to this, January 18, 2004
This review is from: E Ritorno Da Te (Italian) (Audio CD)
The title "best of" describes perfectly what this cd is about. This album contains best songs of Laura Pausini and also two new songs plus new versions of four songs (la solitudine, non c'é, strani amori, gente). There are also a duet with Gilberto Gil (seamisai) and a spanish version of la mia risposta. This album is my favorite Laura Pausini album because when I listen to his I can listen all those songs with Laura has touched the deepest part my heart. Grazie Laura!

Laura sei meravigliosa! This CD is very well done. There are only a couple of problems I have with this CD. Personally, I am not a big fan of re-makes. Some critics suggest that songs like "Strani Amori" we re-done because Laura's voice sounds better now compared when she sang the original. You've got to be kidding! Although the re-make is nice, the original is better. I guess that's maybe why she almost pulled off winning San Remo back in the mid-90s with the song, competing with megastars like Andrea Bocelli and Giorgia. The other problem I have with it, although minor, is Gilberto Gil. I hope he was half-asleep while singing his duet with Laura. That would at least give him an excuse for that sorry performance! We love you in America Laura...if you come to USA in concert, I'll be there for you. 4 stars!!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST OF Laura, truly the BEST, April 23, 2003
By
This review is from: E Ritorno Da Te (Italian) (Audio CD)
I bought this BEST OF Laura Pausini in Italian and in Spanish, Lo MEJOR DE...just days before her live concert. It was amazing, I was not sure how great it would be since I only had heard some of them but gosh, all of them are classics. And the three new songs are just amazing. For those who have heard Laura throughout the years, this is THE recopilation CD to get. No way you will regret it, it is truly the best CD I have in my collection. A true gift to this nice and talented young italian singer to her longtime fans and those who do not know her music, this is it. Great album after 10 years of a singing success. THE BEST.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let this compilation do the talking for Laura, January 21, 2003
By
This review is from: E Ritorno Da Te (Italian) (Audio CD)
Laura is right now the best-selling italian female singer worldwide.
She's a star in Europe, in the Spanish-speaking countries (both Spain and South america) and Brazil.
She managed to become such star by singing in all these languages.
This collection with-holds all the singles (except for FIDATI DI ME) she released throughout her stunning career so far.
Laura proves to be what could be defined an all-round artist by diving into diffrent genres.
Pop songs, Ballads, Uptempos...you name it..she has got it.
The package includes 2 new songs E RITORNO DA TE and UNA STORIA CHE VALE (both co-written with newcomer lyricist Daniel): they are two different sides to the same theme: what happens when a romance is about to end.
Will it go on by finding strength in each other's faith (as in case/song # 1) or will it end and remain a precious memory(as in case/song # 2)?
LA SOLITUDINE and STRANI AMORI are the ballads that Laura updated to a more modern sound, while NON C'E' and GENTE have been reworked on to sound more dance and hip-hop-like.
Laura also gives an international flavour to the collection by presenting a half-portoguese version in duet with Gilberto Gil of SEAMISAI, including the spanish version of MI RESPUESTA and adding the Richard Marx-penned, David Foster-produced ONE MORE TIME from the MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE soundtrack (fan fact file: this song was to be recorded by Lara Fabian at first....).
The outstanding tracks to me are IN ASSENZA DI TE (this is OUR song when it comes to me and Sakis... a foggy night in the greeke mountains while driving in his car, this song comes up and..pow! there goes OUR song, remember?) and TRA TE E IL MARE (powerful and full of feeling).
IL PIANETA DEL CUORE is a spanish flavoured track and IL MIO SBAGLIO PIU' GRANDE is written by pop sweden sensation songwriter Andreas Carlsson...great energy and beats.
Bottom line: this cd is something you want in your collection if you like good music and good sounds.
Laura is up for even wider success with her upcoming European release of FROM THE INSIDE...just wait and see!
