Best snow maker out of four I tried,
By
This review is from: Rival Snow Cone Maker (Kitchen)
Having purchased snow cone makers for years I can attest to the simplicity and safety of this machine.
The blade is tucked away not out where a child or young adult can shave off skin while using or cleaning. While all electrical appliances require adult supervision until an older age, I am really impressed with this machine for safety. You lift the top of the machine and put in the ice, then you close the top and hold it down so that the motor engages and it starts shaving the ice. When finished unplug it and then I found you can set it on a drain and any excess ice will melt and drain out. You can also just turn it upside down and pour out any excess ice. The blade can come loose after multiple uses however, it tightens down easy by a knob on the outside of the machine. I am really impressed with this little snow cone/shaved ice maker. Mine has lasted for over a year of heavy useage. I have purchased this as gifts for my grandchildren and a niece/

I got the Hamilton Beach snowman ice shaver last week ordered from this site and it was satisfactory. My friend had enjoyed the shaved ice, so 2 days ago I went to Target and bought the Rival Snow Cone maker (for $19.99) because I needed a birthday gift for her that day. IT WAS SOOO MUCH FASTER!!!!!! This is the one to get. Makes me want to return the Hamilton beach model, but i threw out the box.

This is the best!!,

I bought this snow cone maker at the beginning of July and we have used it every day since it came in the mail. The adults love it just as much as the kids. Very easy to use and easy to clean up. The only problem I have had is unscrewing the inner chamber when I wash it...it seems to take a little muscle to make it catch. I would buy this machine again in a heartbeat!! No need to invest in expensive syrups, just buy unsweetened Kool-Aid mix (we like lemon the best). Boil 1 cup of water with 1 1/2 cups of sugar. When it comes to a rolling boil, remove from the heat and stir in the Kool-Aid mix. Let it cool, add to ice shavings and enjoy!! (The original recipe calls for 2 cups of sugar but I prefer a thinner syrup to add to the ice.)

I just bought and used this machine for the first time today. The model I have came with the machine only, no syrups or cups (not purchased off Amazon.com). It's great, we really love it! The ice goes from freezer to Rival machine and grinds out a nice fine snow/small ice chunks. Better than just using crushed ice from the fridge as we did before :) We bought syrups in Blue Raspberry, Raspberry Lemonade and Fruit Punch, they were all very good. I would recommend this machine.

We looked at all the snowcone makers...and this is the only one that stood out. We always use this for deserts and when my friends come over, they always want one, or at least one of the snowcones. Some of my friend used it and said they just had to get one. Thist is the coolest little machine! It looks great in the kitchen, too. No matter where you put it!

This house loves snow cones in summer,

We got this snow cone maker and love it. Walmart carries a bunch of flavors at a good price. The best part is how well this lil' fella works. It has held up well and seems sturdy enough. We got a hand grinding one a few years back and man that thing was worthless let alone dangerously sharp for kids.
Even if we wear it out I'll be getting another one. the size of the shavings is light and deliciously satisfying. In fact as hot as it is today I'll be asking the kids to make some up. It's a good buy.

We've used this about 4 times so far. It is easy to use by adults, a breeze to "clean up," and simple to store.

I have had this for over a year and we are still lovin' it! I have a regretable habit of ice chewing, so this is my tooth saver:)
As for syrups, I bought a bottle from the super center, it was so yucky. We now use concentrated juice either frozen or from a can. That makes a perfect snow cone for children. I prefer regular beverages with my shaved ice. |
