I have owned four of these machines. I eat snow cone ice everyday. This machine makes the fine ice like snow,,, not chipped ice. It works great for awhile but depending on how used the machine was when I got it ( I usually buy them used for cheaper) the blade seems to dull withing a couple months to six months. It still works, it just makes the ice extremely slow so you are sitting there forever. This is a great little machine if you are only occasionally going to make snow cones.

I initially bought this snow cone maker at the beginning of July 2007 and we have used it very frequestly during the summer. I have just had to purchase another one because the weather is warming up, the kids are already asking about when we can start making snow cones again AND I CAN'T FIND WHERE I PUT THE BLADE!!

The adults love the snow cones just as much as the kids. Very easy to use and easy to clean up. The only problem I have had is unscrewing the inner chamber when I wash it...it seems to take a little muscle to make it catch.

No need to invest in expensive syrups, just buy unsweetened Kool-Aid mix (we like lemon the best). Boil 1 cup of water with 1 1/2 cups of sugar. When it comes to a rolling boil, remove from the heat and stir in the Kool-Aid mix. Let it cool, add to ice shavings and enjoy!! (The original recipe calls for 2 cups of sugar but I prefer a thinner syrup to add to the ice.)

My sweetheart has been wanting a snow cone maker since I have met him. He has always talked himself out of it. Then finally we got one. I love it. We made snow cones for all the kids (4) and then we then we made ourselves some. It is wonderfully refreshing on a hot day. Then I found ways to shave the frozen juice that I juice. And I froze milk, shaved it and added fruit over the top of it. With the shaved ice I can also pour juice from my juicer over it, to create wonderfully healthy and refreshing sorbet. It is simple to use, add two cups of ice, press down and voila a bowl of shaved ice. For clean up, warm soapy water. It's strange, I never thought I wanted one and now I made a permanent spot for it next to my juicer and cuisinart.

Works surprisingly well for the cost. To be homest for the money I wasn't expecting much but it actually works really really well! I was impressed At the efficiency and how well it works for the price I paid. It was easy to use, and made a nice snow cone. It seems sturdy enough; Although I have only used it a few times so far. Would definitely recommend this or similar model from rival.

My kids love this and it is an extra way to keep them hydrated in the hot summer days. Not sure about the ice shoot design because it shoots it out straight. We would have preferred it to shoot out in a more downward way, but you just have to aim it more directly. Either way the kids love it and that is all that matters!

Snocones are a great way to cool off in the hot weather. Everyone loves them, kids and adults. This was a great investment for me.

... We started using it about two to three times a day for three weeks. The blade is now so dull it won't shave the standard half-moon ice formed by most refrigerators. Some deal? I wonder!

Push the kids aside - they can buy a snowcone from the dude cruising around the neighbourhood selling them from his barely running ice cream truck. Plus you want to support him so he buys a new song - how many times can you hear "ROW, ROW, ROW THE BOAT" before you go completely postal?
Shave up some ice into your cocktail shaker - add your margarita mix and some Sauza Gold. Shake it up. Add a little bit more ice on top and some margarita salt and you are chilling with a way tastier treat than some imitation fruit flavoured food colouring added snowcone junk!!!!
