I bought this burner for my son who is in the Air Force. He works the mid shift and does not have time to go to the mess hall for food, so he cooks most of his meals. He likes to cook and the microwave and the grill were not fitting the bill. So I got him this double burner. He loves it! He can make anything now. If he wants scrambled eggs, he cooks it. If he wants mashed potatoes, now he can boil the potatoes. His favorite is chicken with rice. While he is cooking the chicken on one burner, he is steaming the rice on the other. It is great! Thank you!

Good.,

It arrived on time and in good condition. Although it can't compare with a real stove, it is a good alternative for those who don't have one.

This review is from: Rival BD222 Double Burner Hot Plate (Kitchen)
We are in the middle of a major remodeling effort and have no working kitchen for 8 weeks. I researched and ultimately purchased the Rival Double Burner Hot Plate to let us do some cooking during this time. As listed in the manual, the right hand burner is a 1000W one that is good for almost all cooking, including boiling water for pasta. The left plate is only 500W I think and is more for simmering or keeping items warm. This will never replace a full size 4 burner range, but for its intented purpose, a temporary and portable cooking unit, it works great. The price is very reasonable as well. The construction is quite sturdy and it has good insulation in the body and nice rubber feet that keep the counter underneath from getting too hot. The only complaint is that the actual coils for the burners don't seem to be removable to clean up any spills. They sit loosely on the top of the unit and can be moved a bit for cleaning, but not removed completely.
