The instructions say that this chocolate fondue fountain makes any occasion an event. And why not? It's flowing chocolate! This fountain is very easy to use. For my first experience with it, we used plain old Hershey bars. The chocolate must be melted and thinned with vegetable oil before it goes into the fountain which I did easily in the microwave. Since just our immediate family was going to be eating it on this occasion, I was trying to use the least amount of chocolate possible. I found that I needed to used 1 1/4 pounds to get the nice waterfall effect in which the chocolate cascaded in a sheet down the sides like the picture on the box. Any lesser amount and the chocolate would still flow, but it merely drizzled over the sides and wasn't as nice looking. It was very fun to use and my children now ask almost every night if we are going to "do chocolate."

The second time I used this was for a party. I found a good deal on some Ghirardelli candy making bars and used these. I used around 3 pounds which seemed to be close to the maximum that the fountain would hold. Since this was not regular chocolate, the consistancy was not correct for the fountain even with the added vegetable oil. The chocolate flowed but just drizzled over the sides even though I was using a sufficient quantity. I was disapointed, but my guests still loved it. Next time I will use normal chocolate. Perhaps I will try chocolate chips which is one of the options listed in the instructions.

This exact same chocolate fountain sells in Target for $49.00 and to be honest, I don't think that it is worth that. I purchased it clearanced through Amazon for $12.49 plus shipping which was a GREAT deal. Overall, I am definitely glad I made this purchase.

We used this for our foundue parties on Christmas and New Years!! It is so wonderful and you don't have to worry about the pot getting to hot or stirring the chocolate. I was afraid clean up would be difficult but it is a BREEZE!! I used a high grade of gourmet chocolate and my guests gushed all night at how wonderful it was!! The instructions walk you through everything and it works like a charm!! I can't wait to use this for my kids Valentines party at school!! What fun!!

GREAT FOUNTAIN...GREAT PRICE!!!! The first Rival fountain I purchased was the CFF5, which is the 2-5 lb capacity and that was great. But this one is even better for a smaller crowd! My family and friends often come over for dinner parties and we use this every time. I used both the bakers chocolate sold in supermarkets and chocolate from a chocolatier and they both have the same flow on the fountain. Not sure what the other reviewers were stating about the chocolate not flowing but if you use the amount of vegetable oil instructed for the different qualities of chocolate everything will work perfectly!!!

Don't hesitate to buy this. Simple to assemble and use, it's great for I'd guess up to 10 people. Melting chocolate chips with canola oil was child's play. Turn the fountain on and voila - practically instant party. Even this small version looks classy. Taste and consistency of the fondue was outstanding. Everyone ate too much. Clean up was easier than you might imagine, just soak in soapy water to get the majority of the chocolate off, then into the dishwasher. What a blast! Can't wait to do it again.

My husband bought this for me for Christmas a few years ago after I commented on one at an event at a local banquet center. It has been a staple of our New Year's Eve parties since. I love how easy this chocolate fountain is to assemble and use. Even though I only use it a couple of times a year it takes less than two minutes to put together. The instructions include ratios for chocolate to oil and recipes for some things to dip (like shortbread cookies). I have a double boiler which makes melting the chocolate mixture and adding it to the preheated fountain super easy. I use milk chocolate morsels and everyone comments on how the fountain looks and the chocolate tastes. It is a nice touch that the forks have different colored ends to tell them apart and 8 is plenty. Cleanup is easy too, there is rarely much left!

I saw this on Amazon for $10.99 so I couldn't resist buying it. Overall it works fairly well. I have only used it once but so far it works well. I saw this same product at Target for $50 so I love that I got this on such a great deal. I think Amazon even increased the price of this unit after I purchased it. I have a few issues with the fountain. First, it only does chocolate so no cheese fondue. Second, you need a lot of chocolate to make this thing flow well. I had to use 4 small sized bag of chocolate chips to make it flow well and I still think that was still not enough chocolate. That means that this will mainly be used when you have a large number of people over. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.

The fountain was a gift for my girlfriend to celebrate three years of dating. She loved it so much. The fountain worked well...the first time we used it, it didn't flow so great, but we turned it off and came back to it a little later and it worked perfect. Even when the flow wasn't as good it still flowed enough to get some tasty treats dipped in chocolate. This was a great product and I love it.

I would give it zero stars if I could.

Got the product, followed the manual to get everything ready, plugged it in, turn the knob on....and NOTHING! No power, no fan sound, no light, NOTHING!

That's about what this product is worth to me right now, NOTHING!

Disappointed to put it mildly.

Shame on Rival for slapping a quality control sticker on an item that doesn't even power up.

**UPDATE**

Amazon sent me a replacement unit, and guess what? The replacement unit didn't work either! I made sure the pieces went together as instructed, and that the auger was properly snapped into place, but no dice.

Amazon told me they could not ship another replacement because it was, and I quote "As it seems that the problem with this item is more widespread than we originally thought, we are not able to send another replacement. [Hence, I request you to return the item for a full refund]."

...and yet it is still for sale here on Amazon.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR A FUN FAMILY DAY. IT WAS A HIT!!!! EASY TO PUT TOGETHER, EASY TO CLEAN. WE HAD A BALL. !! I HAVE THE KIDS ON VIDEO. I SHOULD BOUGHT MORE.
