As a newlywed in 1976 (lol), one of the gifts I received was a Rival Crock Pot and cookbook. In the back of the book, there were several items listed that you could buy as accessories for the crock pot. The Bread n Cake Bake pan was the one item that I bought. I have been using ever since. I have made breads and cakes in it. I have found over the years that I could buy a regular cake mix from the grocery store, follow the directions on the back, and bake the cake on high for two hours. Of course, it comes out looking completely different than what you normally picture a cake to look like. I think that's why I like it so much. Everything is extremely moist. The cakes are easy, I set my timer and go about my business as usual. I have made the cakes for my kids friends and they always look at it somewhat taken aback, say thanks somewhat slowly, and then when they return, brag about how good it was.

The Cake and Bake Pan has turned out perfect whole wheat bread for me. I used a bread mix prepared for a bread maker. I could not ask for better texture. I also made a chocolate cake, and when I turned it out I had what looked like a perfect two-layer cake -- only it was only ONE layer. I have a 1975 recipe book that I use as a guide, but there are recipes to be found on-line. Be sure to prepare the pan.
