Worth the Price,

This review is from: Rival GR100 BN 20-1/2-Inch by 10-1/2-Inch Electric Griddle (Kitchen)
This thing is absolutely awesome. It can do 8 cheese toasties all at once and still wipe clean. I think the one we have is about 2 years old and it still works great. Just recently, it was dropped and one of the plastic legs broke off. We just put a small fruit dish (heavy stoneware) under that side and it works great. Being about to put the whole griddle unit in water is a plus because you don't have to scrub, and we put ours in the dishwasher. It may be more than you want to spend, but is worth it.

Must buy,
This review is from: Rival GR100 BN 20-1/2-Inch by 10-1/2-Inch Electric Griddle (Kitchen)
The best family griddle you can buy. It is truly nonstick. You do not need to use oil, unless you want to for flavor. 8 grill cheeses at once, 6 to 8 pancakes at once. Super easy clean up. Cord unplugs from griddle then dunk it into the soap water. Stays cool underneath so can be used on most any surface.

Cooks unevenly,

I just received this as a holiday gift and tried it out with pancakes this morning. While I love all the space (I could turn out 8 pancakes at a time!), I was very disappointed in the cooking surface. The griddle surface heats unevenly, so that my pancakes - instead of a nice even golden brown - were a sort of gradation from golden to slightly overdone. Later I looked at the bottom of the griddle and saw that the heating element makes one loop around the bottom surface, which explains the uneven heating. I've never had an electric griddle before, so I don't know if this is normal. It's still an improvement my small stovetop griddle, but I'll be keeping an eye out for a replacement with better-distributed heating elements.

Cooks fine, but poorly made,

I used the griddle for two weeks, cooking pancakes, eggs, burgers, etc., and it worked great, as long as the temp control was turned way up, almost to the max. But this morning, while I was washing the griddle in the sink, one of the legs snapped off without any noticeable cause: I grabbed it to move the griddle for rinsing, and it broke off in my hand. Since the legs are part of the griddle's molded-plastic frame, repair means bringing out the glue and hoping the plastic is a formula that accepts adhesion.I haven't contacted the company re: warranty yet, but will do so tomorrow, when the work week begins. I'll update this review if I find any joy there. At its price, I didn't expect the Rival griddle to be a top-quality item, but I did think it would last longer than two weeks. On the other hand, also given its price, I'm not going to get as bent out of shape over its failure as I would if it cost $100 -- one advantage of buying cheap.

so you'd like to eat breakfast with your family ....,

With this griddle you can do just that. Breakfast used to be a one at a time eating affair - with this griddle you can sit down together. Gone are the days when everyone would be finished with their breakfast by the time I sat down with mine - the cook is no longer last to eat.The surface is large enough to cook 8 regular-size pancakes or 6 larger pancakes. I have made up to 10 pieces of french toast (depending on the size of the bread). It has a channel that sends the grease from bacon down to a drip pan just below the surface of the griddle. The drip pan slides out for easy cleaning. Despite it's large size, it is very easy to clean. Set on an angle in your sink, it's non-stick surface cleans off very easily. The drip channel is wide enough to fit the end of a soapy sponge as well. Best of all, the heating is very even across the entire griddle so there aren't any spots that cook faster or slower depending on where the heating element is (like many electric fry pans). This is an all around winner in our household.

I have used this for eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. It cooks evenly every time. It takes no time at all to clean it. I would definately recommend this to those with families!

Every Sunday we gather for family brunch and this griddle is used for bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast and eggs. Fastest prep time and easiest clean-up of all the different pans etc used before this griddle. I love it!

NOT JUST FOR BREAKFAST,
This review is from: Rival GR100 BN 20-1/2-Inch by 10-1/2-Inch Electric Griddle (Kitchen)
Seems like most of the reviews for this item all talk about it's use in doing breakfast. And it's true...you can do loads of pancakes, a full package of bacon along with sausages or eggs, and so much more. you could do your entiire breakfast on it if you choose. But it's not just for breakfast. I've used it as an indoor grill to grill boneless chicken. You can also do a ton of burgers on it as well with room to toss on a few dogs or brats. Don't limit yourself to just breakfast.Comes with a drip catcher which is fed by drip gutters that go all along the sides and front of the griddle. Clean-up is really a snap with the very good non-stick surface of this one. Most of the time it can be just rinsed clean. It's big and takes up space so make sure you have enough counter space for it. If I would say there is one minor complaint it is that it seems to cook faster on the edges more than the center of the griddle so just move the food around a bit. It's not way off...just slightly.

Love it!,

I registered for this electic griddle for our 2003 wedding. I love it. It's just me and my husband right now, so you'd think it would be too big...but it's not. I can make hashbrowns, sausage and eggs all at the same time (or 8 pieces of french toast). We're in our first home, so it is tough to find a storage place for it, but we keep it in our storage room and I bring it up at least once a week. It cleans up very easily, too.
