Don't waste your money, December 9, 2003

Terrible! Weighs a ton - takes 6 mintutes to toast; can't do basic microwaving. You have to change out the racks between microwaving and toasting - too much of a hassle and crumbs everwhere. We re-packed this for return almost immediately!

Is this an oven or a water pitcher?, February 21, 2005
This review is from: Rival MT660 Microwave/Toaster Oven Combination (Kitchen)
The switchover from microwave to toaster oven and back is not toooo time consuming, but it is a bit bothersome.
The condensation from microwaving is a huge pain. Water literally runs down the interior walls and door, and drips out when opened. If the door is not left open for hours to air-dry the interior, the water will still be there the next day.
An email to Rival got this response:
"I have just received your email and I would like to thank you for writing. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with our product. The condensation build up on the door is normal. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you."
Conveniently blew me off and ignored my description of water running down the sides and out the door.
A local retail giant has been selling these things as low as $38 to get rid of them.

Waste of time, November 20, 2004
This review is from: Rival MT660 Microwave/Toaster Oven Combination (Kitchen)
I bought this on sale at our local superstore, thinking it would be a great all-in-one replacement for our microwave and toaster oven. I was wrong.
Six minutes to make toast? That's totally unacceptable. Not only that, it dried out the bread before it toasted it.
The interior is small, if you can deal with that. I can't.
The microwave is underpowered. It takes too long to heat food.
After any kind of cooking, the condensation buildup is tremendous. The unit runs a fan to vent the interior after it's done cooking, but that isn't enough. The moisture will stay on the inside of the unit for hours after cooking, if you don't leave the door open. No thanks.
I suppose I could have gotten used to using the switches to change modes, but having the re-tool the unit's interior furnishings each time I changed cooking modes was too much.
My unit had a defective lower heating coil, so all things considered, back to the store it went. I used the store credit to buy a new, nicer toaster oven, and I put my (not so) old microwave back on the counter.
