I now have a small pullman converted kitchen and do not have a true stove. I use my roaster for everything. I received it for Christmas and have made anything from sloppy joe to swiss steak and a lot of things inbetween. I use it probably 4 out of 5 days a week. The clean up on this is amazing and nothing sticks to it. I have had no trouble with it heating. Only thing is the liner has lost it's shine and I would like to find a new one.
This was the best small appliance that my family could have given me. I cook for one or six in it without grease splatters or burned on food even when making cheesy potatoes it just wipes clean.

I use this roaster several times a week and just love it. It is great for pot roasts, roast chicken, boneless turkey breast, ham and all the things you would normally cook in a roasting pan in a large oven. I love that this roaster doesn't heat up the kitchen like a large oven!

It's also great as a larger-size slow cooker -- soups and stews have turned out amazingly well, and I never get out my regular crock pot anymore. This one is nice because you can really adjust the heat, unlike crock pots that have only two settings.

I have used this roaster like a mini regular oven. The cooking rack is just the right size to fit a small oval casserole dish. (I have had to adjust casserole times slightly -- cook times take a little longer than in a conventional oven.) It is also good for roasting stuffed peppers or other vegetables. The booklet that comes with it tells you how to use it as a steamer for vegetables, too. I would have never thought of that.

The little window in the top is a nice feature. If you put a meat thermometer in your roast you can see when it has reached the desired temperature without opening the lid. Also, the machine has little metal hooks over the handles to hold your lid in place if you open it during the cooking process. This is a nice design feature since it keeps the open time minimal, and you don't have to put the lid down on another surface of your kitchen.

I like the clean lines of the design, too. It looks really nice on my old 30s white enameled range, but I could see it in any kitchen setting.

It is very easy to clean, since the entire cooking well is removable. The nonstick surface has been very durable for me, with no scratches or flaking.

My dearest friend bought me this roaster for xmas because she knows that I love to cook in a crockpot and like to cook unattended due to my crazy hectic life married with children! It was great! It was just like cooking in an oven. It was especially great for those times you would like to cook something later in the evening when you dont have time to wait on the crockpot! I have cooked meatloaf, soups, chicken, pork chops and so on in this roaster. Approx 2 months after i got this roaster it just stopped working. It would not heat up anymore! I am so upset about that! Maybe I just got a dudd!!

I was going to keep looking for this item and reorder it when it became available until I read the review from lady from Louisville, Kentucky. Just like her I had this oven for about three or four months - used it about five times and it just quit heating up. Maybe the manufacturer should look into this. I too, had thought that I may have gotten a dudd until I read her review.

I purchased the 8 qt. roaster and found it to be the perfect size for roasts, soups, almost anything. I have two friends who also purchased this item. We would all like to buy another one but cannot find them anywhere.

I bought this in Nov 2001 (because I have a crockpot that I love but it is a little too small for turkey roasts, large chickens, etc.) it worked for less than a year & it is next to impossible to get ahold of Rival customer service. You pay for the product and then they want you to pay to ship it back...I will never buy Rival products again.

I too was disappointed when my roaster quit working. It looked like sparks were coming from the bottom. I purchased this roaster in the store. It worked great for about 6 months. In that time, I used it probably 4 times. Heating up for the first time the pan started smoking, but after about 15 minutes it quit. The manufacturer should look into their design. Maybe something needs to be changed.

Although I haven't tried this product yet,cause it's out of stock,but it's just what i have in mind.I'm disabled and this would be down my alley so to speak;It comes in handy so that i don't have to use conventional oven,which would cause a lot of heat in my apartment;plus it's mobile so that i can place it where i plan to have meal and let it cook there.

Just roasted some chicken legs. They came out great. I am planning to roast a small port roast tomorrow. It heats up very quick and remains hot all around.
