Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Thanks to a clever design, the curved glass door and a slight bulge in the back allow this countertop toaster oven to hold a full 12-inch pizza. Stylishly rounded with a brushed stainless-steel top and handle, the oven is not one to be hidden away. In fact, it will need at least six inches of space around its large-capacity 19-1/2-by-14-1/2-by-10 inch frame to act as a heat buffer as it toasts, bakes, and broils a wide variety of foods.

Two knobs control the oven's temperature (up to 450 degrees F) and functions (keep warm, broil, bake, and toast), while a third sets the timer for up to 60 minutes. Versatile and using less power than a full-size oven, this one bakes chicken, potatoes, hamburgers, frozen food, and more, and toasts up to six slices of bread or six bagels. The nonstick interior finish makes wiping off splatters and spills easy, while a crumb tray slides out from underneath for emptying. Rival covers the toaster oven with a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

5.0 out of 5 stars Used for Everything!, December 4, 2004
This review is from: Rival TO600 6-Slice Countertop Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
I purchased this oven about six months ago, thinking I would use it just every now and then. I now use it almost every day! I haven't turned my regular oven on since I purchased this one! I love that it fits a large frozen pizza, none of the other ovens I looked at even approached the versatility. The only compaint I have is the quality of the pans that came with the unit are mediocre, but I use my own and the oven itself works like a dream.

1.0 out of 5 stars do NOT buy this item!, May 11, 2005
This review is from: Rival TO600 6-Slice Countertop Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
Another reviewer mentioned having the temperature control stick--that was NOT an isolated incident. I purchased mine direct from Rival on their site in hopes that it might come a little faster than Amazon's ever slower standard delivery (who wants to go 2 weeks with no toaster?). This hope was in vain, alas, as it still took over 2 weeks. After having the oven about 3 days I took some toast out a little early (still getting used to how long to set it for darkness) and took it in the other room to eat. When I went back in the kitchen a couple hours later it had never shut off, and was so hot that it had melted the cord of my microwave that ran behind it (a good 4 inches away mind you--not touching or anything). After this it would simetimes shut off and sometimes not. I called Rival and asked if it could be returned, they said no problem, they would exchange it. I decided I would still use it after this and would just have to either force the timer off or unplug it every time after use. Unfortunately, within another couple of days the temperature control froze so that it could not be turned at all--I'm talking even using ALOT of force--I was afraid it would break if I used pliers or something. I just called and said I really didn't want another one of these items after my experience, and was told that I would have to take another one, and if it did it again THEN I could return it for something else. No thanks, I think I'd rather NOT burn my house down...DON'T buy this oven! If anybody wants one cheap, my new one will be going on Ebay or something...maybe a gift to someone I don't like...

1.0 out of 5 stars 5 months is TOO short a time for this to last!, November 4, 2005
By
This review is from: Rival TO600 6-Slice Countertop Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
This toaster oven was perfect...for about two months. We used it nearly every day. It is not built well, however...

First problem: the knobs stick terribly. We tried everything to fix that problem, but nothing worked. It made it increasingly difficult for my two kids to use this unassisted, which was one of the reasons we wanted this.

Then, suddenly, the spring in the door broke, and now the door doesn't stay closed!
So...we were happy to have a one year warranty. Sort of. The deal with the warranty is that we have to pay the shipping BOTH directions! We have to send return postage when we send it in, not even knowing if the problem is covered! They refused to tell me if the door would be covered.
It will cost over $14 to ship one way...do I really want to spend $28 in shipping without even knowing if they will fix it? I think not.
Now we have decided to shop around for another one...
This was not money well spent. And expecting the consumer to pay shipping both ways is really poor customer service. Buyer beware!
