The motor still runs, but the drive shaft and the gears are stripped.

Over the years we would go for the mid priced mods but thought that we would go for the best American made Quality mod.

Although the box boasts a "5 Year Warranty!" the cheap, POS motor has a 1 year warranty.

I bought one of these last year and it worked very well for the first three times, then the gears broke. It costs $149.00 for a new motor, which is What you have to buy because you can't get the gear assembly by itself. the motor is fine but of no use without the gears. By the way there out of replacement motors.

Tried to use it Sunday for a big July 4th party. Had wonderful batch of fresh peach ice cream that everyone was excited to try. It was purchased June 2009 for last July 4th party and worked wonderfully. Has been stored indoors in original packaging so it hasn't been misused. Plugged it in this year and it screamed. All attempts to correct the issue didn't work. Appears to be power shaft coming out of the motor. After researching return policy, purchasing of parts and reading other reviews, I realized that there's nothing that can be done. So much for attempting to purchase a quality product rather than a cheap plastic freezer. Don't purchase unless you're willing to have only a few batches of very expensive ice cream.

6 quart white mountain electric ice cream maker
After breaking the 2nd time it was used, calling white mountain, researching & looking at reviews, White mountain company was bought out and their product isn't quality like it used to be. I have had my white mountain ice cream maker for about 25 years...I think they need to make their parts in the USA they are assembled here but parts are not from USA. It was less than a month when the motor broke so they refunded my money but disappointing. I bought it as a gift for my daughter & her husband who were looking forward to homemade ice-cream . Hopefully white mountain can improve their product.

Although this ice cream maker seems to be top-of-the-line, it breaks after only a few uses. Although the box boasts a "5 Year Warranty!" the cheap, POS motor has a 1 year warranty. So when my husband bought this for me for Christmas 2009, the warranty started ticking then. I think we made ice cream once or twice Summer 2010, and then when I went to use it this summer (2011), it made a horrible screeching noise. I called customer service for a replacement (based on the stated 5 year warranty), and was told sorry, but I could take 15% off a new $100 motor today! Screw you. It's frustrating to think that I could have spent half as much for a cheap ice cream maker that would either still be working, or I wouldn't care about when it broke. Too bad, this is otherwise a seemingly-nice ice cream maker - the other parts work well. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!

Bought this used it one time worked good the second time the gears tore up 200.00 plus out the window dont buy this icecream maker.

For the price it should last for a new motor, which is what you have to buy because you can't get the gear assembly by itself. the motor is fine but of no use without the gears. By the way there out of replacement motors

My children purchased the White Mountain Ice Cream Maker as a Father's Day gift for my husband because after using my father-in-law's White Mountain their father was convinced it was the best one to own. Sadly the first attempt to make ice cream left us disappointed as the motor seiged early in the churning process. Though the company was happy to accept the churn back for a full refund we were very disappointed that we did not receive a churn equal to the one my father-in-law purchased years ago.

Add me to the list of unhappy ones. Second batch of ice cream and the motor went. Ridiculous to pay this amount of money for a freezer and have the motor quit. I might expect it from a $25 freezer. White Mountain use to be the best of the best for ice cream but now that the name has been sold to a "group" that only cares about money and does not care about the USA-has there product made overseas with shoddy workmanship- the product is not going to be recommended by me as it use to be! My freezer is on its way back for a refund of money. Think I'll try a cheaper brand of ice cream freezer. Looking for one made in the USA, so far have not located one.

It was noisy for the six times I was able to use it. Then the gears stripped out and that was the end of it all. Tried to find a way to replace the broken part. No such luck...Don't waste your time or money.
