One of the best Pokemon CD singles from Japan, September 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rivals! (Audio CD)
Very good compared to other Pokemon CDs put out in Japan. Excellent compared to the U.S. Pokemon CD. The description didn't include a track list, so here are the tracks for anyone curious. Of course, all songs are in Japanese. 1. Rival! -- New theme song from the Japanese version of the TV show. Nice song about competition and good sportsmanship. 2. Type: Wild -- New closing theme from the TV show. 3. Hey! Pikachu -- Duet between Meowth and Pikachu. Mostly Meowth. 4. Pokemon Sandwich -- A Pokemon name game. In Japanese, but easy enough to figure out how to play by listening to the names. 5. Rival! Karaoke version. Also included with CD was a plastic stencil with the shapes of several Pokemon and a metric ruler.

The Rivals!, November 16, 2001
This review is from: The Rivals! (Audio CD)
This is a great CD and my favorite one I own. It has 5 tracks on it but only four songs, which is kinda a downfall but it's worth every penny!
The first song is Raibaru!(Rival!) which is sung by Matsumoto Rika, the voice actress of Satoshi (Ash). This is my favorite song on this CD. I had heard the legends of satoshi's singing but never knew how true it was till I got this CD, and my friends agree. His/Her voice is amazeing! Diffently NOT a ear sore! This song makes you want to sing along with it and you can on the 5th track which is the karoke of this song.
The next song is TAIPU: WAIRUDO (Type: Wild) which is also sung by Rika. In this Satoshi singing about his journey, his shoes, and his home town. This one goes abit fast a times but you quickly learn the chorse.
HEY! PIKACHUU is sung by Nyaasu (Meowth). He's singing/talking to pikachu who talks back to him in the song. This song might not be sung the best or the fastest, but it's diffently the cuteist! Nyaasu calls her "Kawaii" (cute) once and... He sounds so JEALOUS! I think they would make a cute cupple if Rocket Dan and Sato-tachi (Team Rocket and Ash and co.) team up together.
POKEMON SANDOITCHI (Pokemon Sandwich) is sorta like the poke rap they have here I guess. It's sung by lots of people and is sorta like a game. You can learn the Japeness names of the pokemon and it's fun to sing along to. The main singer guy hurts your ears when he gets to long high notes but it only happens twice so it's okay.
This is a mini CD but it works fine in all the CD players I have used it in, ( 'sept for my computer which only takes a mintute or so to figure out what it is.) It comes with a paper of the lyrics and a ruler/stincel that has the outline of pikachu, another pikachu, togepi, and a Lapras.

A must for any Pokemon fan, especially if you like Japanese!, February 22, 2000
This review is from: The Rivals! (Audio CD)
A few months ago I started learning Japanese, and being a huge Pokemon fan decided to get this CD. I've been having a lot of fun listening to it. My favorite songs are Rivals, and Type: Wild. The other two songs are called Hey Pikachu (sung by Meowth) and Pokemon Sandwich. Both Rivals and Type: Wild are sung by Satoshi's (Ash's) voice actor. Strangly enough, she's a wonderful singer. Also it comes with the lyrics in japanese, and if you can read Japanese or use a chart to translate the Japanese Characters (Kana) it's fun to learn to sing along. Another neat thing about this CD is he fact that it's quite a novelty, because it's only about a third the size of a normal CD. It works just fine in any CD player though.
